District level ECI quiz held in Rajouri

GHSS Seri Wins District-Level Quiz

RAJOURI, DECEMBER 02: A day-long district level Quiz competition was organized by the district election authorities here at the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex premises amongst 28 students of 14 Higher Secondary Schools of Rajouri district, on Saturday.

The Quiz was organized by the Rajouri district election authorities, under the direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI), in an attempt to create awareness about the Indian election system and function of democracy in the country besides engaging the young students in the age-group of 14-17 years-the future voters, in a self-learning exercise about the electoral process so as to build an aware and informed electorate in near future.

District Election Officer, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary had set up a Committee comprising Dy DEO, Dy Registrar Cooperatives, DSWO and Principal DIET to steer the entire exercise of conduct of Quiz. The test was evaluated by a team of lecturers from DIET Rajouri.

Divum Singh and Rohit Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School Seri won the Quiz while Chakshu Mehta & Nimra Miza of Himalayan Education Mission Rajouri and Robin Sharma & Ajay Kumar of Government Boys Model Higher Secondary School Rajouri remained as 1st and 2nd runner-ups, respectively. The winning team at the district level will be sent to Jammu by the district election authorities to take part in the State-level ECI Quiz competition.

Avtar Singh Chib, Additional District Development Commissioner, Shrikant Susé, Deputy District Election Officer, Waqar Talib, District Nodal Officer SVEEP and Inderjeet Singh Principal DIET attended the prize distribution ceremony. ADDC and Dy DEO distributed certificates of participation among participants and felicitated the winning team.

The District Round at the District HQs has been conducted by DEO's office for selecting the School Team representing the District at the State level. The State Round at the State HQs shall be conducted by CEO's office for selecting the School Team representing the State at the Zonal level. The Semi Finals and Final shall be conducted at New Delhi under the supervision of ECI.
