JAMMU, DECEMBER
20: IRP 14th Battalian organised a plantation drive in the
Armed Police Complex Channi Himmat here today.
Inspector General of Police Armed/IRP Jammu Zone S.A. Watali was
the Chief Guest on the occasion.
During the drive, about 600 saplings of different
varieties including fruits and ornamental species were planted in the premises.
Pertinently, this environmental friendly initiative was
conceived by Commandant of IRP 14th Bn. Manohar Singh, SSP with
an aim to make the Police complexes green.
DIG Armed Police/IRP Jammu Range Vijay Kumar was also present on
the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Armed said that it is
imperative to adhere to the guidelines circulated by various agencies regarding
the preservation of fauna and flora for human survival. “Erosion of land and
pollution of air due to receding plantation as well as man-made disasters pose
a grave threat to the human life and it is time to resort to the preventive
measures, massive plantation being one of these, added Watali.
Others present on the
occasion included Sukhdev Raj-SP Dy Commandant, Prithpal Singh-SP Adjutant,
Ravi Kumar Gupta-SP Quarter Master, Dy. Superintendents of Police and all other
ranks of IR-14th Battalion.
