Agartala, Dec 27: The BJP Tripura election in-charge and Assam finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along wih a team of 25 MLAs and ministers of the party from Assam and 35 top leaders of BJP from different states today held Padayatra (Walkathon) across all 60 assembly constituencies at a time to scale up poll campaign.
The rally was organised to show the strength of the party ahead of mega rallies of BJP Chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi next month. Thousands of BJP supporters with colourful attire and poll song of the party appealing voters to oust 25 years rule of CPI-M for better development took part in the rallies.
The participation of tribal and Muslims were significant in the rallies in most of the constituencies, police admitted.
“Our formal campaign for the assembly polls is flagged off by Himanta through a big rally at Dhanpur assembly constituency of chief minister Manik Sarka today followed by the Padayatra,” said Biplab Kumar Deb adding that Sarma is scheduled to hold meetings with other allied parties to finalise a seat adjustment formula. UNI
