Shah, Saturday visited the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul
Qadir Jeelani at Khanyar to review
the arrangements for the forthcoming Urs
of the revered saint.
The Urs of the revered saint, also
popularly known as Ghous-ul-Azam Peer Dastageer Sahib, is to be observed in
Srinagar as part of Kashmir-wide religious observance from December to 18 to
28.
On the occasion, concerned officers briefed the DDC about plans formulated by
their respective departments to ensure smooth observance of the Urs at the
shrine which attracts
thousands of devotees during the period.
The SE PDD said a curtailment-free power supply to the
shrine and minimum possible curtailment in the area surrounding it has been
chalked out during
the Urs .
The transport department was directed to ensure adequate transport facilities
until after Isha prayers for devotees coming and leaving the shrine through the
period of the Urs convention.
The DDC also directed the Police and Traffic departments to ensure proper
security and effective traffic regulation measures on routes to the shrine on
the occasion and instructed the SMC and PDD officials to ensure all defunct
street lights around the shrine are repaired on priority.
Senior officers from Police, Traffic, RTO, Fire & Emergency, PDD, PHE,
Health, SRTC, SMC besides members of the Wakf Board and Sajada Nisheen of the
shrine were present in the meeting.
