SHOPIAN, APRIL 14: The Annual Urs of renowned Sufi Saint Hazrat Syed Bahu-ud-din Gunj Bakhash Simnani (RA) was celebrated with devotion and religious fervour at Arhama in Shopian district.
A large number people including women and children thronged the shrine of the Sufi mystic and offered prayers there.
The Urs commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran, salutations supplications and sermons followed by night-long prayers.
Ulemas and Imams threw light on the life, religious services, teachings and spiritual strength of the saint who had devoted his life to the preaching of Islam.
They said that Islam teaches the lesson of humanity and compassion and stressed upon devotees to work for the welfare of humanity and follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

            SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 16: District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Saturday visited the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani at Khanyar to review the arrangements for the forthcoming Urs of the revered saint.
            The Urs of the revered saint, also popularly known as Ghous-ul-Azam Peer Dastageer Sahib, is to be observed in Srinagar as part of Kashmir-wide religious observance from December to 18 to 28.
            On the occasion, concerned officers briefed the DDC about plans formulated by their respective departments to ensure smooth observance of the Urs at the shrine which attracts thousands of devotees during the period.
The SE PDD said a curtailment-free power supply to the shrine and minimum possible curtailment in the area surrounding it has been chalked out during  the Urs .
            The transport department was directed to ensure adequate transport facilities until after Isha prayers for devotees coming and leaving the shrine through the period of the Urs convention.
            The DDC also directed the Police and Traffic departments to ensure proper security and effective traffic regulation measures on routes to the shrine on the occasion and instructed the SMC and PDD officials to ensure all defunct street lights around the shrine are repaired on priority. 

            Senior officers from Police, Traffic, RTO, Fire & Emergency, PDD, PHE, Health, SRTC, SMC besides members of the Wakf Board and Sajada Nisheen of the shrine were present in the meeting.

BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 11: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla Farooq Ahmad Baba accompanied by Tehsildar Baramulla MaeenKakroo and other officers of various line departments today visited the shrine of Hazrat SYED MOHAMMAD JANBAZ WALI, RA here at Khanpora Baramulla to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth celebration of annual Urs.
The Urs is being celebrated annually from 02 December to 15 December at his Shrine.
During the visit, the ADC reviewed the availability of essentials, wherein he directed the concerned to ensure the availability of all essentials so that the devotees arriving in large numbers may not face any inconvenience.
The ADC directed the concerned authorities to ensure an adequate supply of ration, uninterrupted power and water supply during the scheduled hours, besides maintaining proper sanitation in and around the shrine. Moreover, the ADC directed the health department to facilitate the first aid facility at the venue, besides directing the R&B department to repair all the roads leading to the shrine so that hassle-free movement of devotees is ensured.

Meanwhile, various members of Auqaf Committee met the ADC and appraised their demands. The ADC assured them that their genuine demands will be fulfilled on a priority basis.

KISHTWAR, NOVEMBER 01: Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana today convened a meeting of all the district and sectoral officers of line departments to review the necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of Urs of Shah Asrar-Ud-Din Sahib (RA) scheduled for  November 10, 2017.
       DC directed XEN PHE Division Kishtwar to ensure availability of sufficient drinking water for devotees at the shrines of Astan Bala, Astan Pani and other places.         
       EO Municipality was also directed to ensure repair and replacement of the non-functional street lights in the town and the adjoining areas of the shrines for hassle free movement of devotees, besides ensuring proper cleanliness  of both the shrines and lime lining of the roads leading to the shrines.
      DC also passed on the direction to CEO Kishtwar Development Authority for speedy restoration of Street/ High Mass Lights installed around the Chowgan Ground and to repair the non-functional transformer without any delay, he added.       
       He also said proper management of Traffic and Parking should be made. It was revealed that for commercial vehicles ITI Ground and FCI godown premises have been identified for parking.
     XEN PDD Kishtwar was directed to ensure un-interrupted Power Supply at both the shrines.     
    The DC also directed ensuring basic medical facilities at both the shrines, besides  ARTO Kishtwar was directed to ensure availability of adequate number of buses and other passenger vehicles for smooth to and fro movement of devotees during the Urs Mubarak.       
      Various other arrangements were also discussed in the meeting which includes temporary toilets, parking facility of passenger vehicles and establishment of control room.        

    SSP, CEO KDA,CPO, ACD,  ACR, CMO, Tehsildar Kishtwar, AD CA&PD, ARTO and other district and sectoral officers, Administrator Auqaf Islamia Kishtwar, besides prominent citizens also attended the meeting.

          BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 31: Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Bandipora, Masrat Hasham Tuesday convened a meeting to finalize arrangements for forthcoming  Urs of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA).
       The Urs shall be observed from November 01 wherein supplications, sermons and night-long prayers would be held across main mosques and shrines in Kashmir.
                      During the meeting, PDD authorities were asked to ensure curtailment-free power supply to the Aham-e-Sharief shrine and its surrounding area, where a large number of devotees are expected on the Urs day. The Transport department was directed to ensure that adequate transport facilities are provided to devotees visiting the shrine.
          The Health Department was instructed to ensure free medical aid facilities in the vicinity of the shrine.
          The ACR further directed the Police and Traffic departments to ensure proper security and effective traffic regulation measures on routes to the shrine and instructed the SMC and PDD officials to ensure all street lights are functional, besides ensure proper illumination and sanitation measures.

 Officers from Police, Traffic, Revenue, PDD, PHE, Health, and SMC besides   Wakf Board representative were present in the meeting.

          SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 31: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Khan today reviewed the arrangements made for the smooth conduct of annual Urs of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA).
          The meeting was informed that all the arrangements have been put in place for the Urs that will start from November 01. The meeting was attended by DC Srinagar, CE PDD, representatives of Makhdoom Saheb Shrine and concerned officials of other Departments.
          It was revealed that PDD in addition to supplying power through a dedicated feeder has also put in place a DG set for meeting any blackout. Div Com also directed the Health Department to start free medical camps for seven days at the shrines at Koh e Maran, Tujjar Shareef and Aham-e-Sharief at Bandipora.

          Dedicated passenger buses, adequate ration, water tankers, special personnel for ensuring 24X7 sanitation has also been put in place at all the three shrines, Div Com said.

BARAMULLA, SEPTEMBER 05: Minister for Horticulture, Syed Basharat Bukhari, today convened a meeting to review the arrangements being put in place for the annual Urs of Hazrat Murad Din Bukhari (RA), which is being observed from September 8 to 15 at Kreeri, Baramulla.
District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, SSP Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, officers of various line Departments and members of the concerned shrine committee attended the meeting.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held with respect to the availability of essentials at the spot so that the devotees arriving in large numbers at the shrine of the saint do not face any inconvenience.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the adequate supply of ration, adequate power and water supply, maintaining proper sanitation in and around the shrine premises.

Moreover, the Minister directed the concerned BMO to ensure the medical facility at the venue besides directed the R&B Department to repair all the roads leading to the shrine so that hassle free movement of devotees is ensured.

          BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 04: In connection with Urs of Lala Aargami, an annual function will be held at Lowdara-Bandipora at the residence of Sufi poet Ahad Buhroo on September 07.

    During the programme, Majlis of Khatam- ul -Mozamaat and Majlis of Darood-o-salaam will be organized during the night. Mahfil -i- Mushaira and Mahfil-i-Moseeki will also be held during the function.

Srinagar, Aug 29 :  The 652nd Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdan, popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan, was celebrated today, the 6th of Zil Haj (month in which Hajj pilgrimage takes place) all over Central Asia and the Kashmir valley. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has greeted people on the occasion and prayed for peace in the valley. Last year not much people could participate in the Urs due to unrest in the Kashmir valley, where 75 people were killed and over 7000 others injured in security force and police action following violence after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in Anantnag on July 9. The main congregation was held at Khanqah Moulla on the bank of river Jehlum in the Shehar-e-Khas (SeK). Many saints have graced the valley of Kashmir but no one is identified with Kashmir the way Sahah-e-Hamdan is. His real name was Ali and he was the descendant of Prophet Muhammad through Imam Zain-ul-Abideen. He was born in Central Asia around 1313. He arrived in Kashmir along with 700 Syeds and his followers. However, before his arrival here he had already sent two of his closest followers in Kashmir. By the time he arrived in Kashmir, the local ruler had already became the followers of one of his disciple. Hazrat Shah Hamdan did not stay in the valley permanently but visited on various occasions. Hazrat Shah Hamdan had a multi-dimensional personality. He was a social reformer besides being a preacher. Among the 700 followers, who accompanied him to Kashmir, were men of arts and crafts who popularised shawl-making, cloth weaving, cap making, pottery and calligraphy. He also introduced the different handicrafts besides teaching Islam as a result the handicraft industry received a fillip in Kashmir. Hazrat Shahi Hamdan laid greater emphasis on earning legal livelihood and so rejected all the means available for the support of the Sufis. He earned his livelihood by cap making. On his third visit to Kashmir, he fell ill and died after five days in 1394. During his early childhood, he memorised the whole Quran and later became the spiritual disciple of Sheikh Sharaf-Ud-Din, who advised him to complete his education by extensive travels to foreign lands. As a result, Hazrat Shahi Hamdani undertook many travels over a period of 21 years. UNI

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) East Syed Hanief Balkhi today visited Khan-e-Kahi Moulla shrine to review Urs arrangements of Shah-e-Hamdan Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), which will begin on August 29, 2017.
Engineers from PDD & PHE, Chief Sanitation Officer SMC, Medical Superintendent and other concerned officers were accompanied with the SDM.
The SDM directed PDD and PHE engineers to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and water supply in the ablution quarters during the Urs days and also repair street lights.
He also stressed the SMC to ensure proper sanitation in and around the shrine on daily basis up to Eid-ul-Azha so that devotees should not face any kind of difficulty.  
Balkhi also asked Health department to deploy ambulance with doctors, medicines and paramedical staff on the Urs day at Khan-Khahi Moulla.  
Later, the SDM paid obeisance at the Shrine and interacted with devotees who apprised him about different issues. The SDM assured them that the genuine issues will be redressed on priority.

MLA Haveli discusses arrangements with admin
POONCH, AUGUST 16: The annual of Urs  of Sain Meira (RA)  shrine at Guntrian is being observed from August 18.
The Urs   will continue for three days during which special prayers and religious congregations would be held.
  In this regard, MLA Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray & Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmad Zargar Wednesday convened a joint meeting with concerned departments and members of Saien Meira trust to discuss the arrangements to be put in place for the smooth conduct of the annual Urs.
 Like past, a large number of devotees from all sections of the society  are expected to visit the   shrine during the Urs days.
Keeping in view the large participation, the MLA directed the concerned departments to make elaborate arrangements for comfortable stay of the devotees. 
Senior civil and police functionaries including SSP Rajiv Kumar Panday, ADC Gurvindergeet Singh , ACD   Zubair Shah, ACR Ashraf Chowdhry, executive engineers of PWD,PHE& PDD and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
Later DC Tariq Zargar along with team of officers visited the shrine and discussed all issues with management committee.

BUDGAM, JULY 22: The three day annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Saleah (RA), Khansahib is being observed with religious fervour. On this occasion thousands of devotees visited the shrine of revered saint Hazrat Syed Saleah (RA) at Khansaheb in district Budgam.
      Special congregational prayers were lead by Maulana Hakeem Mohammad Ashraf. MLA, Khansahib and the patron of Hazrat Syed Saaleh (RA), Khansahib Trust Hakeem Mohammad Yasin also participated in the Urs celebrations.
        Special prayers were held for peace and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

              Hakim Mohammad Yasin also took stock of the arrangements put in place by the district administration, Budgam for the convenience of the visiting devotees. He personally supervised proceedings of the Urs celebration for all the three days.

Directs for providing adequate basic facilities to devotees
SRINAGAR, JULY 21:  Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Ali Aali Balkhi (RA) Pakherpora to be observed from July 25 to August 11.
The Minister also reviewed arrangements of Urs of Syed Soliah Khan Sahib (RA) Khansahib being observed from July 21 to July 23.       
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik, SSP Budgam Tejinder Sigh, ADC Budgam, besides senior officers of PDD, PHE, Health, Transport, Municipality and other concerned Departments attended the meeting. The members of local Auqaf Committee of Astan e Aalia also attended the meeting. Sanctorum
During the meeting, the Minister was briefed about the arrangements taken for ensuring smooth conduct of Hazrat Syed Ali Aali Balkhi (RA) Urs. It was said that main function shall be held on August 5 with Pashak Bandi (offering Chadar) at the sanctum sanctorum. The FCS&CA Department was directed to ensure sufficient supply of ration including gas, kerosene, and Sugar, particularly during Urs days.
          Simultaneously, the PDD was asked to provide round the clock power supply to the area during Urs days and in case of any urgency, the electric gensets be kept available at the Shrine.
          The ARTO officials were asked to provide hassle free transport facility to the devotees.
          The Minister directed the concerned to keep sufficient passenger transport vehicles including SRTC buses available from the prime spots/Addas where a huge gathering of devotees is expected to assemble for boarding during Urs days.
          He further directed that for the convenience of devotees they shall keep close liaison with the Police Department to ensure effective traffic regulation.
          In order to check illegal profiteering, hoarding and black marketing in the markets during Urs days, a special squad headed by concerned Tehsildar will keep a close watch and make surprise checks of the markets during these days, the meeting was told.
          PHE Department was directed that apart from providing uninterrupted water supply, mobile tankers must be deployed outside the Shrine area.  
          Similarly, R&B Department was asked to undertake repairments of the roads approaching the shrine.
          The Minister impressed upon the officers/officials of concerned Municipalities to ensure better cleanliness and sanitation measures at the Shrine premises and its surroundings.

          Hanjura also asked the officers to make foolproof security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful celebration of these holy occasions. He further directed the officials to make arrangements for smooth regulation of traffic and designate parking spots at various places to avoid traffic jams.
