SRINAGAR,
DECEMBER 16: Director
Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today said that efforts are on to
make Seed Multiplication Farms (SMF) more revenue and employment generating
assets.
The Director said this while
reviewing the progress in implemention of schemes under Seed Multiplication Farms.
He said SMF not only plays a vital
role to meet out the seed requirement for farmers but also are also important
in the multiplication of latest varieties of different crops received from
universities and research institutions.
Expressing his views, the Director
Agriculture exhorted upon the need of strict adherence to the timeline for
project completion in addition to optimal and judicious utilization of funds.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure the budgetary allocations under
different programmes are fully utilized by the end of current fiscal. He asked
the officers to keep the digital record of the entire off-take, expenditures
and remittances and impressed them to take periodic reviews of different
financial activities for better monitoring of financial achievements.
Andrabi called upon the officers to
submit the requirements of different types of seeds for Kharief season so that
assured availability of seeds to the farmers can be achieved well in time. He
said that the innovative ideas for the optimal utilization of farmlands will be
encouraged by the department and the department will take all the steps to make
these Seed Multiplication Farms more revenue and employment oriented.
He impressed upon the officers to work
with commitment and coordination to achieve tangible results on ground, so that
the benefits
of these farms reach the grass root level.
Earlier, the meeting was informed
about the various ongoing
activities under different projects.
