KATHUA, DECEMBER 23: In continuation with
its endeavor to remove encroachments from State land and water courses, Deputy
Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria launched anti encroachment drive to evict approximately
100 Kanals land from illegal possession of Sanjeev Gupta, a resident of village
Bann of Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua who constructed 24 vertical pillars on
3 Kanals of encroached land which were demolished during this drive.
Stressing on the need to enforce the
ban on sale, purchase and transfer of the lands mentioned in the revenue
records as “Gair Mumkin Khads”, DC said that
appropriate action will be taken against encroachers to impose complete ban on
encroachment of water bodies, water courses and State land.
Declaring all the water bodies,
wetlands and water courses as property of the Government of J&K in terms of
Section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management)
Act, 2010, DC said that these Government properties can`t be encroached upon
and strict vigil must be maintained by the revenue officers in their respective
jurisdiction to maintain the sanctity of the law.
The anti-encroachment drive was
launched under the supervision of SDM Hiranagar, Suresh Kumar Sharma, Tehsildar
Marheen, Jitendar Singh and SDPO Border besides an FIR was also lodged in this
connection.
