Srinagar, Dec 22: Chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq has been put under house arrest while there was no relief for hardline HC chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Srinagar.
However, official sources said restriction on separatists has been imposed to prevent any demonstration.
The Mirwaiz was put under house arrest since Thursday night, a spokesman for the HC said. 
He said a state police and security forces had been deployed outside the Nigeen house of Mirwaiz, who has been informed that he cannot leave till further orders. Mirwaiz was released only on December 20 evening after remaining under house arrest for 24 hours from December 19 evening.
Mr Geelani remained under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence, where a large number of security forces had been deployed.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, has asked people to hold demonstrations after Friday prayers in their respective areas against civilian killings and continued use of pellets by security forces in the valley. UNI
