Rupee down by 19 paise against USD

Mumbai, Dec 18: The Rupee on Monday slipped by 19 paise to 64.23 against the greenback on rising demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at Forex Market said.

The local unit fell by 11 paise to 64.15 in opening trade. Till the end of the session it further lost the ground and settled at 64.23, sliding by 19 paise as compared to its last close.
It hovered in a range of 64.05 and 64.30 during the day.
Firm dollar against other world currencies pushed the indian currency down, however, robust domestic market capped from further down, they added. UNI
