New Delhi, Dec 16: The outgoing Congress president Sonia Gandhi's speech at the AICC headquarters here on the occasion of coronation of her son Rahul Gandhi
had to BE stopped for few minutes as enthusiastic party workers and Rahul'S
admirers burst crackers.
Just as Sonia Gandhi had started making her speech, the
bursting of fire crackers disturbed her. More than once she requested party
colleague Janardhan Dwivedi to ensure that bursting of crackers WAS stopped.
"I cannot shout because of my voice.....can you stop it," she said.
Mr Dwivedi also made a brief announcement but the enthusiasm of party workers continued unabated.
At one point Rahul Gandhi came forward and asked Sonia Gandhi to 'wait' for a while.
Later when things calmed, Ms Gandhi went ahead with her speech. UNI
