| Attends concluding ceremony of football tourney |
JAMMU, DECEMBER 23- Minister
for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today called upon teachers to promote
sports culture in the
school
as it acts as greatest motivation for inculcating sense of competitiveness
among the youth.
Sense of achievement, discipline and
spirit to face challenge can best be developed through sports among the youth,
Syed said adding that
co-curricular activities are inseparable from academics.
The Minister was addressing students,
staff and participating teams at
the concluding ceremony of football tournament organized by Central Reserve
Police Force’s (CRPF) 187th Battalion under Civic
Action Programme, here at Delhi Public School campus.
Started on December 16, 2017, 8 teams played 28 matches
during the tournament.
The trophy was clinched by Kendriya Vidyalya 1 Udhampur, even as Army Public
School ended up as runner up.
The wining team was awarded with cash prize of Rs 15000 (fifteen Thousand) Gold
Medals to the team members and the trophy, while as the runner up team got Rs
10,000 cash prize, silver medals to each team member and a trophy.
The Minister hailed the contribution
of security forces in promoting sports in the state even in difficult
situation. “The Security Forces
deserve appreciation for holding sports events on regular intervals in both
parts of the state. This they are doing even in difficult situations” Syed added.
The Minister appreciated the massive
infrastructure of DPS and congratulated the parents for having high standard
education available for their wards. He
said government acknowledges the huge contribution of private sector in
education and consider private and government schools as complimentary to each
other.
The function was attended by MLA Udhampur Pawan Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Ravender
Kumar, Director
Colleges Prof Zahoor Ahmed Chat, DIG Udhampur, Varendar Sharma, DIG CRPF S K Mishra,
DIG SSB MS
