| Felicitates winners of 36th Junior National Tennikoit championship |
JAMMU, DECEMBER 23 - Minister for
Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Imran
Raza Ansari today felicitated the winners of 36th Junior National
Tennikoit in Under-18 category here.
The event was organized by J&K
Tennikoit Association (JKTKA) under the aegis of Tennikoit Federation of India.
Players hailing from 24 states participated and exhibited their talent in the
tournament.
Commissioner for Persons with
Disabilities, Iqbal Lone, Organizing Chairman J&K Tennikoit Association,
G.A Beigh, Secretary General Tennikoit Federation of India (TKFI) Lakshmi
Kantam and other officers of TKFI were present on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the
Minister said that any form of sports has vast health benefits as they involve
both physical and mental activity. They induce positive energy and enhance
knowledge of the sportspersons, he added.
Highlighting the importance of physical
literacy, the Minister said that sporting develops coordination, competitive
skills and makes aspirants accountable. Similarly, they inculcate dedication,
leadership power, and motivation, besides bringing confidence to express the
ability and hone the inner potential of the sportspersons, he stressed.
Congratulating the tournament winners,
the Minister reiterated the government’s
commitment to providing feasible support to groom the budding sportsman and
upgradation of the existing sports infrastructure in the state.
