SSB strengthened its presence after Doklam: Rajnath

New Delhi, Dec 23: Home Minister Rajnath Singh said here on Saturday that the Sashastra Seema Bal had strengthened itself on the India-Bhutan Border in Sikkim by creating more Border Out Posts after the Doklam stand-off with China.

He said the SSB had been playing a crucial role in the management of Indo- Bhutan and Indo-Nepal borders respectively, and had contributed towards the relations between the friendly nations.
He also appreciated the border guarding force for various programs and initiatives run by them for welfare of the people living in the bordering areas.
‘’ Inhabitants of the border areas are very important and are strategic assets for the country, and it was important to have the best of relations with them, ‘’he said while addressing the 54th Raising Day parade of SSB here. He also said that it was difficult to guard the open borders due to occurrence of cross border criminal activities like trafficking , smuggling and others, so it was very important to carry on with confidence building measures with neighbouring countries. UNI
