Hyderabad,Dec 14: The much-hyped World Telugu Conference (WTC) will begin here on Friday with the focus on how the Telugu language was preserved, protected and enriched in Telangana region.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the five-day mega event to be presided over by Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao. Governors Ch.Vidyasagar Rao (Maharashtra) and E.S.L.Narasimhan (Telangana and AP) will be the chief guests at the inaugural ceremony to be held in the sprawling Lal Bahadur Stadium.
President Ram Nath Kovind will address the valedictory session on December 19.
About 8,000 delegates from 40 countries will be attending the conference, the first being conducted after the nascent state of Telangana came into being in 2014.
The biggest 100-member contingent from Malaysia will be attending the WTC followed by USA.
Over 500 registered delegates from the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh besides Telugus from various states in the country will also participate in the conference. UNI
