Baramulla, Jan 9: Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday asserted that two militants and nine Over Ground Workers of Hizbul Mujahideen have been arrested and a huge cache of arms and ammunition seized at Sopore in Baramulla district.
“Following specific information about presence of militants, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police and other security force agencies on January 7 at Watlab in Sopora at around 2200 hrs,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore Harmeet Singh told a press conference here.
He said during the operation two active militants, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan allies Haroon of Wagad Tral and Shuja-u-din Sheikh of Dadsara Tral, were arrested. “Both the militants were active in south Kashmir and had travelled to north Kashmir to recruit local youth to militant ranks.” 
Mr Singh said in the past three days, nine OGWs of HM were arrested by the joint teams of different security agencies. “Huge cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK 47 rifle, magazine, 15 rounds, a pistol and a magazine, three pistol rounds, two hand grenades and four mobile phones were recovered from them,” he said.
He said incriminating documents, letter pads, posters and recruitment forms were also recovered. UNI
