Jammu, Mar 30: Condemning the demand made by Hurriyat Conference (G) that the forces camps from civilian areas be removed as these were “sources of harassment and nuisance” for locals, Brigadier Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the demand is politically motivated with a view to provide free run to the terrorists. In a press statement issued today, Brig Gupta has said that the nexus between the Hurriyat and the terrorists has been well established. The Hurriyat not only provides them a network of over ground workers (OGWs) but also acts as a conduit for financing the terror operations. Brig Gupta warned that any attempt to remove forces camps from civilian areas will tantamount to weakening the successful anti-terror and anti-CI grid established by the security forces. This move will enable terrorists to seek shelter in built up areas thus putting to danger the lives of local civilians. The flow of intelligence would also be affected. It would also hamper the smooth conduct of anti-terror operations by the security forces increasing the chances of collateral damage stated Brig Gupta.
It sounds very ironical that the Hurriyatconsiders the presence of forces camps in the civilian areas as an act of human rights violations but maintains a stoic silence when innocent Kashmiris are killed by the terrorists in the name of Jihad. No Hurriyat leader ever expresses concern at unprovoked attacks by the terrorists on the security forces who are deployed to ensure safety and security of Kashmiri masses, lamented Brig Gupta. How does Hurriyat justify the latest barbaric attack on a Kashmiri Special Police Officer (SPO) of Jammu & Kashmir Police (JKP)killing him and critically injuring his wife by the coward terrorists in his residence at Bijbehara, questioned Brig Gupta?
Instead of demanding the weakening of the security grid through removal of forces camps, Geelani& Co. should dismantle the OGW network and appeal to the sympathisers to stop supporting the terrorists and instead help the security forces in ending the menace of terrorism in Kashmir thus restoring its pristine fame and charm, said Brig Gupta. “I hope the separatist leadership realises the futility of confrontationist approach and the reality dawns on them that integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India is non-negotiable and irreversible. Pakistan’s role is restricted only and only to vacating the areas of the state occupied by it illegally. The future of Jammu & Kashmir is safe only in the hands of India. Any grievances or disputes need to be resolved peacefully within the ambit of the Constitution of India”, stated the spokesperson.

Srinagar, Mar 5: Train service has been suspended on Monday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley, where a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant and three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were killed by security forces in an encounter in Shopian on Sunday night.
However, Srinagar-Jammu national highway, passing through south Kashmir, was through for one-way traffic.
We have suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley today, a railway official told.
He said no train will run between Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, no train will chug on Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north, he said.
Train service has been suspended in the valley after a fresh directive was received from police late last night. "We are acting on the advice of police, he said adding the decision was taken in the interest of passengers and railway property. Normally trains witness heavy rush on Saturday in the afternoon, when people are going to their homes and on Monday when they (people) are resuming their duties and business", the official said.
In the past railway property suffered heavy damage due to protests and demonstrators in the valley.
During last year the train service was suspended for over 50 times partially or fully for security reasons. However, in 2016 train service remained suspended for about six months during summer unrest.
Train service has become a very popular in the Kashmir valley which is being considered cheap, fast and safe.
A police spokesman said here on Monday that a message was received from Army that during an encounter a militant and three OGWs were killed at Pahnoo Shopian on Sunday night.
He said the slain militant was identified as Amir Ahmad Malik, a militant of LeT who was active since June 2017.
He also said police has taken up the investigation. UNI
