New Delhi, Jan 4: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against former
Education Minister of Meghalaya, Ampareen Lyngdoh, the former principal
secretary of education, and others for their alleged involvement in corruption
related to recruitment of teachers in lower primary schools in 2008-2009.
The probe agency on Wednesday booked a case against Ms
Lyngdoh, the former principal secretary of Education Department PS Thangkhiew
and unknown others under Sections 120 (B), 167, 466, 408 and 34 of Indian Penal
Code (IPC) which included criminal conspiracy and forgery of public register.
The CBI has registered the case after a division bench of the Meghalaya High Court directed the probe agency on November 2, to take over the investigation case of Laitumkhrah Police Station relating to the alleged mass manipulations, tampering in the score sheets and interference in the selection of the posts of assistant teachers in Lower Primary Schools in 2008-2009.
It was alleged that the former Minister had instructed the then Director of Elementary and Mass Education (DEME), JD Sangma and two others to 'tamper with and forge score-sheets by applying white fluid' wherever there was need to increase or deduct marks of successful candidates to adjust some others.
