Jan 11: Like every year, this year too, the West Bengal Government has set
up all the facilities for a successful Gangasagar Mela, and Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee has taken a leading part.
Lakhs of pilgrims have arrived from all over India, and many
from other countries too. Among the steps taken are satellite phones to police
personnel at crucial points, Wi-Fi zone, CCTV, a special website, and others.The Chief Minister has a special message for all the pilgrims congregated at Ganga Sagar.
' My heartiest welcome to all pilgrims to Gangasagar Mela. To make your entire journey to, and stay at, Gangasagar Mela successful and safe, the Bengal Government has taken a lot of measures, ' she said.
' Adequate drinking water, toilet, residence and other facilities have been arranged for all pilgrims. Life insurance has also been taken on all pilgrims by the State Government, ' she added.
' Security arrangements have been taken at all places – be it at the fairground or along the way. We wish for all of you a successful, safe and blessed stay, ' Ms Banerjee stated. UNI
