New Delhi, Jan 4: Prime
Minister Narendra Modi will interact with officials tomorrow to discuss the
problems of backward districts identified by the government for upliftment.
The conference- Transformation of Aspirational
Districts-has been organised by the NITI Aayog at Dr. Ambedkar International
Centre here.
The Prime Minister will interact with Prabhari officers or officials’ in-charge of transformation of over 115 districts.
The event is in keeping with the Prime Minister’s vision of a New India by 2022.
The union government has embarked upon a major policy initiative for the rapid transformation of districts that are lagging on specific development parameters.
Senior Government officials in the rank of Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary have been designated an officers in-charge, for coordinating the efforts of the Centre and the States to address the specific developmental needs of the selected districts.
Out of total 115 districts, 90 are affected by Left Wing Extremism and another 15, including districts in Jammu and Kashmir and northeast, are affected by terrorism.
