Jammu, Feb 6: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that 120 police personnel and civilians were killed while 308 were injured in militancy-related incidents across the state in the past two years.
The Chief Minister, who is in-charge of Home department, said that in 2016, 20 civilians and 17 police personnel were killed while 66 civilians and 50 police personnel injured.
Meanwhile in 2017, 51 civilians and 32 police personnel were killed while 192 comprising 108 civilians and 84 police personnel injured in violence-related incidents across the state, replied the government.
On compensation provided to the affected families and victims, the government said that in terms of order number 723-GR (GAD) of 1990 dated 10-7-1990, read with amendment time to time, ex-gratia is being given in respect of the affected persons, the reply said.
However, for death, Rs One Lakh, for permanent disability, Rs 75,000 and for partial disability, Rs 10,000 is provided, the Minister replied.
The Chief Minister, however, further replied that in the last three years, 63 police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred in the state.
In 2015, 11 police personnel, in 2016, 18 police personnel and in 2017, 32 police personnel were martyred.
The government also said that special welfare relief of Rs 6.47 crores was paid to Next of kin of 53 martyred police personnel and Rs 12 lakh to NoKs of six SPOs out of Contributory Welfare Fund.
Meanwhile ex-gratia relief of Rs 3.66 crore paid to Noks of 55 martyred police personnel and Rs Six lakh to NoKs of three SPOs out of State Budget and additional ex-gratia relief of Rs 60 lakh paid to NoKs of 20 martyred police personnel by MHA, Government of India was paid. UNI
