New Delhi, Feb 6: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday assured the agitating Telugu Desam
Party Members that the Centre was committed to implementing the package under
Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Mr Jaitley said in the Lok Sabha that the Union government
will abide by Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
TDP members, who have been protesting inside and outside both Houses of Parliament since morning, trooped into the Well of the House holding placards 'Follow Alliance Dharma', 'Keep Your Promises Now'
and 'Save Andhra Pradesh' while the proceedings were on. The ruckus caused several adjournments also and the business continued amid the din.
While the discussion on President's address was underway, Mr Jaitley stood and gave his statement.
He said under the special status, Rs 9,010 crore is given to the states while the normal amount given was Rs 6,040 crore, adding that the Finance Secretaries of the state and the Centre will work out and total amount handed out to the state will remain the same. UNI
