New Delhi, Feb 16: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the Crime and Criminal Tracking
Network and Systems, which will soon be made fully operational, will bring a
revolution in crime prevention.
Speaking at the 71st raising day of the Delhi police here, Mr Singh stressed upon the criminals database, that will be a part of the CCTNS, and will help the police to a great extent in hunting down criminals.
' Detection is the biggest deterrent in crime prevention', Mr Singh said adding that the CCTNS with add to the capabilities of the police.
Mr Singh lauded the force for nabbing the wanted Indian Mujahideen fugitive Junaid, who was being traced by other agencies for around 10 years.
He was held by the Delhi Police special cell on Tuesday.
He also praised the Delhi Police for safely rescuing the kid , who was kidnapped on the republic day eve from East Delhi, in a short time .
The Home Minister directed the top brass of the Delhi Police to update the crime control strategy with changing situations and patterns.
Calling upon the police force to acquaint themselves with the latest technology, Mr Singh laid stress on forensics , calling it a a key factor in terms of crime investigation.
He further said that the police should work on effective strategies in terms of women safety.
He said that the Delhi Police was not just looked upon by people of Delhi , but by the entire nation.
'People have lot of expectation from the Delhi Police, that requires them to put extra efforts and they need to be extra alert and cautious,' he added.
On the occasion, the Union Home Minister gave away police medals and took salute of an impressive Parade.
He also announced a Rs 5 crore contribution towards the Martyrs’ Fund of the Delhi Police.
Mr Singh also said that the Delhi Police has done a commendable work in ensuring fool proof security arrangements at a sensitive time during the visit of 10 ASEAN leaders who were here on the Republic Day this year. UNI
