New Delhi, Feb 5: A city court on Monday remanded to two days CBI custody, prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder---Indrani Mukerjea--- in connection with a case related to INX Media.
CBI Special Judge Sunil Rana, after hearing prosecution and defence counsel, allowed the application of Central Bureau of Investigation to interrogate Indrani for two days and directed that she be brought before the court on 7th February.
Directorate of Enforcement has registered a case against INX Media, its founders Peter Mukerjea, media baron and his wife Indrani, and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The name of Karti, son of veteran Congress party leader P Chidambaram, has also cropped up in the case, which relates to Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted in 2006 for receipt of funds by INX Media.
Prosecution submitted that Indrani has to be questioned and confronted with other accused in the case.
On behalf of the Mumbai Police, it was pleaded that Indrani has to be produced before a Mumbai court on February 13 and she cannot be kept in Delhi after that.
INX Media has been accused of violating FIPB guidelines while receiving investments from Mauritius. UNI
