New Delhi, Feb 5: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has supported Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal's 'Satyagraha' that demands death penalty for rapists of children, within six months.
Mr Kejriwal supports Ms Maliwal's demand from the Narendra Modi Government to bring in a legislation, wherein those convicted of raping minors, are given death penalty within six months.
'The Delhi government also demands stern action against the rapists,' Mr Kejriwal said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ms Maliwal said the 'Satyagraha' is getting support from across the country. 
'All men and women are demanding capital punishment for the rapists of children. I am receiving plenty of phone calls and emails to join the 'Satyagraha'. This time, 'Satyagraha' will not be only mine, but it will be a people's movement. The preparation is in full swing,' the DCW chief said in a tweet on Sunday.
She had announced 30-day 'Satyagraha Aandolan' after the rape of an eight-month old infant and demanded a system that gives capital punishment to the child rapists within six months.
Ms Maliwal demanded a strong law to ensure that each and every case of rape of children is dealt with swiftly and strictly. Necessary amendments should be made in the IPC and POCSO Act for imparting death penalty within six months of the crime being committed.
She demanded setting up of additional fast track courts for sexual assaults and immediate creation of 14,000 posts in Delhi Police, approved by the MHA. 
The DCW chief also demanded creation of proper software for police accountability, resolution of all pending demands of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and revamp of the Prosecution Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. A proper system is needed, including recruitment of adequate staff, enhancement of resources and ensuing accountability in FSL, Ms Maliwal demanded.
The eight-month-old girl, was allegedly raped by her cousin Suraj in Netaji Subhash Place area of North West Delhi. Suraj has confessed to his crime before the police, stating that he committed the heinous act in an inebriated state, while her parents were away. UNI
