Dharmanagar, Tripura, Feb 5: Tripura elections will be decisive in more ways than one as besides electing the Left Front regime, it will signal the decline of the Narendra Modi regime in 2019.
"This is more than an Assembly election, country's future is at stake and therefore, our point is the victory of the Left will result in sure ouster of the Modi phenomenon," Amitabh Durga, district Secretary of the CPI(M) North Tripura, told here.
He said no amount of publicity and propaganda will help BJP gain ground in this Marxists' stronghold state.
In 2013 Assembly elections, out of 50 seats BJP contested, the candidates lost deposit in 49 of them and the saffron party vote share was 1.57 per cent. Similarly, he said in 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP vote share was 5.7 per cent.
To a question, he said no amount of funds flow and campaign by BJP bigwigs will affect the CPI (M) and Left Front candidates.
"People here are with the Left ideology by conviction," he said.
The CPI (M) is organising a mega rally here on Monday to campaign for Islam Uddin, Abhijeet Dey, Vijita Nath and Ramendra Ch Debnath. The rally will be addressed by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
Speaker of the Assembly Mr Debnath is contesting from Yuvraj Nagar. UNI
