New Delhi, Feb 23: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to the Delhi Police after hearing an
appeal filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Dr Subramaniam Swamy,
challenging the Delhi High Court order which had refused for a SIT probe in
connection with the death of Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Congress leader Sashi
Tharoor.
A three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief
Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar
and DY Chandrachud, issued notice to the Delhi Police and sought a detailed
reply from it on Swamy's appeal.
Dr Swmy had filed the appeal against the Delhi High Court order which had dismissed his plea for a multidisciplinary SIT (Special Investigation Team) or CBI probe in connection with the death of Sunanda Pushkar.
The Delhi High Court had dismissed his plea and he had subsequently moved the Supreme Court. The Delhi High Court, while dismissing Swamy's plea, had termed it as a ‘Political Interest Litigation’. UNI
