New Delhi, Feb 28: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday called on the visiting Jordan King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and both discussed about matters on strengthening ties across all sectors.
"Historical links getting stronger! EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on His Majesty @KingAbdullahII Ibn Al Hussein, King of #Jordan. Good conversation on strengthening ties across all sectors, specially in trade & investment, defence & security, tourism and people-to-people exchanges," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
The King of Jordan arrived here on Tuesday for a three-day visit to India.
Apart from official talks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind will host a banquet in the honour of the visiting King on March 1, the last day of his visit.
On March 1 the King Al-Hussein will deliver a special address on 'Promoting Understanding and Moderation', organised by India Islamic Center at Vigyan Bhawan.
According to sources, India’s much-cherished pluralism and success in fighting terrorism, preventing spread of radical Islam and check the influence of Islamist terror groups may be highlighted in his lecture.
On Tuesday on his arrival, the King of Jordan was received at the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by deviating from protocol.
"India attaches great importance to its ties with Jordan," MEA spokesman said. UNI
