New Delhi, Jan 11 : India has granted consular access to Christian Michel, a British national who was brought here from the UAE last month in connection with the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland chopper deal scam.

The British High Commission had sought consular access to Michel after he was arrested in the first week of December. 

"Consular access has been granted to Michel," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

Michel, 57, was brought to India following his extradition by the United Arab Emirates in connection with the chopper deal case. At present, he is lodged in Tihar jail here.

It is learnt that consular access to Michel was granted on Thursday.

Michel is one of the three middlemen, being probed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in the case, besides Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa. Michel has denied the charges. 

Asked about Pakistan's call for talks with India to improve strained ties, Kumar accused Pakistan of trying to mainstream terror organisations, and said there was no seriousness in its statement on dialogue. 

India has been maintaining that talks and terror cannot go together.        PTI

New Delhi, Jul 12: British national Lord Alexander Carlile has been denied entry into India on his arrival here for not having the appropriate Indian visa, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said Carlile's intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application.

Kumar said the British national had arrived here yesterday without having obtained the appropriate Indian visa.

"His intended activity in India was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application. It was, therefore, decided to deny him entry into India upon arrival," he said yesterday responding to a query. (PTI)

New Delhi, Jun 27 : Indian Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat on Wednesday slammed the UN report on alleged human rights violations in Kashmir, dubbing it as "motivated".

The human rights record of the Indian Army, he said, was well known to the people of Kashmir and to the international community

"I don't need to speak about the human rights record of the Indian Army. It is well known to all of you, it is well known to the people of Kashmir, and to the international community. I don't think we should get too concerned about the report, some of these reports are motivated," Rawat told reporters on the sidelines of an event here

The human rights record of the Indian Army is absolutely above board, he maintained

In a report released earlier this month, the United Nations Human Rights Council talked about alleged human rights violations in both Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir and sought an international inquiry into these abuses

India had vehemently rejected the report as "fallacious, tendentious and motivated"

New Delhi, Jun 21: The External Affairs Ministry has sought a report on allegations that an inter-faith couple was harassed and humiliated by an officer at a Passport Seva Kendra in Lucknow.
Responding to complaints from Mohammad Anas Siddiqui and Tanvi Seth, who wrote about their ordeal on Twitter and tagged External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj yesterday, secretary, consular, passport and visa division, D M Mulay said he had asked for a report from the regional passport office in Lucknow and would take appropriate action.
"Regret for inconvenience. I sought report from @rpolucknow Will take appropriate action," Mulay said on Twitter last night.
Siddiqui and Seth had applied for their passports on June 19 and took an appointment for June 20 at a Passport Office in Lucknow.
They were allegedly humiliated and shamed by passport officer Vikas Mishra before he rejected their application, they said.
Siddiqui said on Twitter that he and his wife were seeking "urgent action against this cruelty".
"@SushmaSwaraj hello ma'am I type this tweet with immense faith in justice and in you and ironically with a lot of anger/hurt and agony in my heart because of the way I was treated at the Lucknow passport office at Ratan Square by Mr. Vikas Mishra the reason because I married a Muslim and not changed my name ever," Seth tweeted.
She added that the officer had spoken to her very rudely and loud enough for others to hear while discussing her case.
"I have never felt so harassed ever before. The other workers at the office acknowledged his rude demeanour," Seth said.  (PTI)

New Delhi, Apr 3: India on Tuesday welcomed the US administration decision to designate the Pakistan-based Milli Muslim League as "an alias of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)" and said the move "vindicates" India's position.
"India welcomes the action taken by the US for designating the Milli Muslim League as an alias of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan based terrorist group and its functionaries who are acting on behalf of LeT. It vindicates India’s position that Pakistan has not taken effective action against terrorist groups and individuals," the MEA spokesperson said in response to media queries.
"It is also cognisance of the fact that terrorist individuals and entities are allowed to change names and continue to operate freely from territory under Pakistan’s control," the spokesperson said adding the the decision of the US administration "is a rejection of the attempts being made in Pakistan to mainstream terrorist individuals and entities".
This also highlights Pakistan’s "failure to fulfill" its international obligation to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries, and disrupt terror financing, he said.
The Milli Muslim League is an Islamist political party established in Pakistan in 2017.
On April 2, 2018, the US Department of States said MML is a political frontier of terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-dawah. The Department of State has also amended the designation of LeT to include the aliases MML and another organisation Tehreek-e-Azaadi Jammu and Kashmir (TAJK), which India has already claimed to be a front for Hafiz Saeed's Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD). UNI

Thimphu/New Delhi, Apr 2: Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale paid a two-day official visit to Bhutan as part of the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries. 
During the visit that got underway on Sunday, Mr Gokhale met his Bhutanese counterpart Dasho Sonam Tshong.
Mr Gokhale also called on the Prime Minister of Bhutan Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay, according to a release from the MEA.
The Foreign Secretary also had an audience with the King of Bhutan - Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
"The visit was in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries, and provided an opportunity to the two sides to discuss matters concerning our bilateral partnership, including the commemorative activities planned in 2018 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries," the release said.
The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere in keeping with the unique and exemplary bonds of friendship and cooperation that exist between the two countries, it said. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 28: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday left for a three-day visit to Japan to participate at the 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono.
"Strengthening our Special Strategic and Global Partnership with Japan! EAM @SushmaSwaraj departs on a 3-day visit to Japan for the 9th India-Japan Foreign Minister’s Strategic Dialogue in Tokyo," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Ms Swaraj will be on a visit to Japan at the invitation of her Japanese counterpart. 
During the visit, Ms Swaraj will co-chair the 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue with her Japanese counterpart and the two sides will review all aspects of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.
India and Japan concluded a Special Strategic and Global Partnership during the landmark visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan in 2014.
"Bilateral relations have been strengthened in diverse sectors in recent years. The visit of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India in September 2017 has given fresh impetus to the ties," a MEA statement said here on Tuesday.
Japan is today one of the largest investors in India, with a growing presence in infrastructure projects, manufacturing, financial markets and capacity-building, among others, the MEA statement said. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 27: Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono will be on a three-day visit to India from Wednesday at the invitation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
During the visit, Ms Swaraj will co-chair the 9th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Kono on March 29, 2018, a MEA statement said here on Tuesday.
The two sides will review all aspects of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.
India and Japan concluded a Special Strategic and Global Partnership during the landmark visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan in 2014.

New Delhi, Mar 22: President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife Elke Büdenbender on Thursday arrived here on a five-day State visit to the country.
The visiting dignitaries were received by Union Minister of State for Drinking Water and Sanitation SS Ahluwalia.
"Herzlich willkommen! Warm welcome to President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs Elke Büdenbender to India. Minister of State, Drinking Water and Sanitation SS Ahluwalia received the honoured guests," MEA Spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
In a telephonic call to German Chancellor Angela Merkel to congratulate her on assuming office as the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany for the fourth successive term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was looking forward to his meeting with President Steinmeier.
During his visit, Mr Steinmeier will be going to Varanasi and is likely to visit Sarnath Archaeological Museum there and also interact with the students of Banaras Hindu University. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 15: Indian Foreign Ministry on Thursday said there was no need to make a issue of Pakistani envoy Sohail Mahmood being called by the government there and asserted such summoning are "pretty normal" in diplomatic world.
"Let us be clear on why he has gone back (to Islamabad). He has been called for consultation. It is pretty normal an ambassador or a High Commissioner in any country to be called. This is routine also in nature," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here at the regular weekly briefing.
However, he said Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan is "facing a litany of issues which have not been resolved for several months".
"We raised these issues in good faith through diplomatic channels and not through the media and we have asked for immediate resolution of these issues faced by our High Commission in Islamabad so that safety and security of the diplomatic mission and our diplomatic and consular offices is assured," he said.
The MEA spokesman said India was keen to ensure that Indian mission in Pakistan was able to discharge its duties normally "without any obstruction or harassment in keeping with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, 1961.
He also said India has "repeatedly taken up" with Pakistan both in Delhi and Islamabad.
'We expect Pakistan will take note of all points and resolve the issue,' he said.
In fact, Muhammad Faisal, spokesman to Pakistani Foreign Ministry has also said that the envoy to India Sohail Mahmood would be visiting Islamabad "for consultations on matters relating to Pakistan-India relations".
The remarks from Indian MEA spokesman comes as there have been reports in media lately over embarrassment being faced by diplomats from both India and Pakistan in the respective countries.
Mr Kumar, however, said, he had no comments to offer on why the Pakistani High Commissioner has been called back.
To a question on whether Indian ambassador to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria would also be called to New Delhi, the MEA spokesman said: "...as and when it is required, he comes".
"At any point of time, as and when necessary our ambassadors and High Commissioners do come to India for consultation....so it is not linked to any body being called or not," Mr Kumar said.
On complaints from Pakistani side about alleged harassment of the diplomats in India, he said, "We have seen the issues which have been raised by Pakistan. We do not wish to response to these issues through the media".
These are raised and taken through "established diplomatic channels", he said adding, "at this stage I can share with you is that we are looking into the issues raised by Pakistan".
To a question on Pakistani officials releasing some videos of alleged harassment of their officials in India, the MEA spokesman specifically said 'we do not want to go to the media on specific issues'. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 2: The government of India on Friday maintained its policy and position on the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and said that he has been accorded all freedom to carry out all his religious activities in India.
In response to a query regarding a media report on the central government's position on the Dalai Lama, the MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said,"Government of India’s position on His Holiness the Dalai Lama is clear and consistent." 
The MEA spokesman asserted that the Dalai Lama is a "revered religious leader" and is deeply respected by the people of India. 
"There is no change in that position. His Holiness is accorded all freedom to carry out his religious activities in India," he said.
The remarks comes amid a media report that following a request note from the Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, the Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha had advised “senior leaders” and “government functionaries” of the Centre and states that it is “not desirable” to participate in the events of the Tibetan leadership in exile. 
China calls the Dalai Lama as a "separatist” and the government's move is seen as a strategy to improve New Delhi's ties with Beijing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to visit China this year for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, which will be held in the coastal city of Qingdao in East China's Shandong province. UNI

New Delhi, Feb 28: The government of India on Wednesday reacted sharply to Canadian government's version and asserted that it had "nothing to do with the presence" of a former Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal at a dinner hosted by the Canadian High Commissioner and said any suggestion to the contrary is "baseless and unacceptable".
"We have seen the recent exchange in the Parliament of Canada regarding two invitations issued to Jaspal Atwal by the Canadian High Commissioner, for functions hosted in honour of the Canadian Prime Minister in India," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar said in response to queries.
"Let me categorically state that the Government of India, including the security agencies, had nothing to do with the presence of Jaspal Atwal at the event hosted by the Canadian High Commissioner in Mumbai or the invitation issued to him for the Canadian High Commissioner's reception in New Delhi," he said.
The spokesman further said, "Any suggestion to the contrary is baseless and unacceptable".
In a background briefing arranged by the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office, an official tried to suggest that Atwal’s 'presence' as part of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's delegation and 'invites' in some of the events was "arranged by factions within the Indian government" who want to prevent Prime Minister Narendra Modi from getting cozy with a foreign government they believe is not committed to a 'united India'.
In a fiery debate in Canadian Parliament, Mr Trudeau told members answering to specific query:
“Our professional non-partisan service does high quality work, and when one of our top diplomats and security officials says something to Canadians it’s because they know it to be true".
Mr Tredeau' s recent visit to India has been marred by controversies due to grant of Visa to a former Khalistani terrorist Atwal, who was tried and also convicted of attempted murder in 1986 as one of four men who shot and wounded a Punjab minister during a visit to Vancouver Island.
Atwal appeared in a function at Mumbai and his name also had figured as an invitee for dinner hosted by Canadian authorities in Delhi. The Canadian side later withdrew the invite saying it was due to an act of oversight. UNI

New Delhi, Feb 28: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday called on the visiting Jordan King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and both discussed about matters on strengthening ties across all sectors.
"Historical links getting stronger! EAM @SushmaSwaraj calls on His Majesty @KingAbdullahII Ibn Al Hussein, King of #Jordan. Good conversation on strengthening ties across all sectors, specially in trade & investment, defence & security, tourism and people-to-people exchanges," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
The King of Jordan arrived here on Tuesday for a three-day visit to India.
Apart from official talks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind will host a banquet in the honour of the visiting King on March 1, the last day of his visit.
On March 1 the King Al-Hussein will deliver a special address on 'Promoting Understanding and Moderation', organised by India Islamic Center at Vigyan Bhawan.
According to sources, India’s much-cherished pluralism and success in fighting terrorism, preventing spread of radical Islam and check the influence of Islamist terror groups may be highlighted in his lecture.
On Tuesday on his arrival, the King of Jordan was received at the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by deviating from protocol.

New Delhi, Feb 23: India and Canada on Friday inked a series of MoUs and Agreements including on IT, Energy Dialogue and Sports to boost bilateral ties.
According to MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar, the signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting counterpart Justin Trudeau.
The list of MoUs and agreements include a joint declaration in information communications technology and electronics and a terms of reference for the India-Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue.
The Joint Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic of India and The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development of Canada on Cooperation in the Field of Information Communications Technology and Electronics was inked by Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and the Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains.
Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland inked the terms of reference for the India-Canada Ministerial Energy Dialogue between the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from India and the Department of Natural Resources of Canada.
There was also a Memorandum of Understanding between Government of India's Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and The Department of Canadian Heritage (Sport Canada) on Cooperation in Sport.
Both sides also inked a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce of India and The Canadian Intellectual Property Office Concerning Cooperation on Intellectual Property Rights. 
Among others, there was also a MoU between two governments in higher education, a MEA statement said adding both sides also inked a MoU between the Department of Atomic Energy of India and the Department of Natural Resources of Canada Concerning Co-Operation in the Fields of Science, Technology and Innovation. UNI

In a tweet on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped that the visiting Canadian Prime Minister had an "enjoyable" stay.

New Delhi, Feb 22: India and Canada on Thursday held high-level talks and agreed to work to strengthen relations in trade and investment and also issues related to security and people to people contacts.
The bilateral issues came up for deliberations between two sides when External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her Canadian counterpart Chrystia Freeland at the Foreign MInisters level Strategic Dialogue between the two countries. 
"The two plural democracies are keen to build upon the strong complementarities of our existing strategic partnership," tweeted MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar.
Both the ministers held wide ranging discussions on strengthening relations in trade and investment, security and cyber security, energy, people to people contacts and other relevant bilateral and regional issues, the MEA spokesman said.
During her stay in India, Ms Chrystia Freeland is also likely to hold talks with the Union Commerce Minister Suresh Pabhu. UNI

New Delhi, Feb 21: The Ministry of External Affairs has announced that the registration for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra has commenced from Tuesday, February 20, and will continue till March 23.
"This year the Yatra is scheduled during the period 08 June to 8 September through two routes. Applicants for this Yatra must be at least 18 years and not more than 70 years on 1 January 2018 to be eligible to apply for this Yatra. Last date for registration is 23 March 2018," a MEA statement said here on Wednesday.
"Keeping in line with Government of India’s push for digital mode of interaction with the public, registration for this Yatra on the website https://kmy.gov.in is a fully online process. Applicants have to scan and upload passport pages containing personal details (photo page), address details (last page), and a photo to complete the application," it said.
The online form has necessary guidelines in Hindi and English languages to complete the form. 
Selection of applicants will be through a fair computer-generated, random, gender-balanced selection process. 
Applicants will be notified of their selection after the computerised draw through automated email or SMS. After selection, applicants have to pay the confirmation fee as detailed on the website, to confirm their participation. 
Applicants can also get information, and track the status of their application through interactive helpline No: 011-24300655, the statement said.
There are two routes for this Yatra. The route through Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand), which involves some trekking is estimated to cost about Rs.1.6 lakh per person. The duration of the Yatra is 24 days for each batch including 3 days in Delhi for preparatory work. 
This route passes through important sites like Narayan Ashram and Patal Bhuvaneshwar. 
Pilgrims or Yatris can also see the scenic beauty of Chialekh Valley, or the ‘Om Parvat’ which has the natural occurrence of snow in the shape of ‘Om’ on this mountain. 
The route through Nathu La Pass (Sikkim) is motorable and suitable for senior citizens unable to undertake arduous trekking. 
From Gangtok, the route passes through scenic places like Hangu lake, and through the vast landscape of the Tibetan plateau. It is estimated to cost about Rs 2 lakhs person, and duration would be 21 days including 3 days in Delhi for preparatory work. 
The statement also said senior citizens would have priority on the Nathu La route if they opt for it. 
Two persons may apply and undertake the Yatra together, subject to conditions. Yatris can select both routes indicating priority or select only one of the routes. They will be allotted a route and batch through computerized draw of lots, the statement said. 
The Ministry of External Affairs has been organising the annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra since 1981. It was discontinued earlier due to strained relations between India and China. The Nathu La route was started in 2015. UNI

New Delhi, Jan 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning left for Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum annual meet.
"Showcasing India’s resilient economy and India’s attractiveness as a destination of doing business! PM @narendramodi emplanes for Davos to participate in the World Economic Forum," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Before his departure, Mr Modi on Sunday evening said India’s engagement with the outside world in recent years "has become effectively multi-dimensional" and that these will boost further strengthen economic ties with various countries.
"In recent years, India’s engagement with the outside world has become truly and effectively multi-dimensional covering the political, economic, people to people, security and other spheres," Prime Minister said. 
He said, "at Davos, I look forward to sharing my vision for India’s future engagement with the international community". 
"Apart from the events for the World Economic Forum, I look forward to my separate bilateral meetings with the President of the Swiss Confederation Alain_Berset and Prime Minister of Sweden HE Mr Stefan Lofven," he said.
"The existing and emerging challenges to the contemporary international system and global governance architecture deserve serious attention of leaders, governments, policy makers, corporates and civil societies around the world," Prime Minister has noted.
Mr Modi will deliver his address at the plenary session of the World Economic Forum on Tuesday.
In an interview to a Times Now TV Channel on late Sunday evening, Mr Modi said, the world sees India as a bright spot due to its sound economic policies. 
Prime Minister said, Foreign Direct Investment in the country has jumped from 30 billion dollars to over 62 billion.
Mr Modi also said, India's foreign policy seeks takes the whole world under its purview. UNI

New Delhi, Nov 21: India's nominee Justice Dalveer Bhandari won the crucial mandate to get the berth in the prestigious International Court of Justice.

Mr Bhandari received 183-193 votes in the General Assembly and secured all the 15 votes in the Security Council after separate and simultaneous elections were held at the UN headquarters in New York. It will be the first time since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was established in 1945 that there will be no British judge. In another message, Mr Modi congratulated Justice Dalveer Bhandari. "I congratulate Justice Dalveer Bhandari on being re-elected to the International Court of Justice. His re-election is a proud moment for us," he said. Last night, in her tweet, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj wrote: "Vande Matram - India wins election to the International Court of Justice. Jai Hind". In another missive in the micro blogging site, Ms Swaraj wrote: "Congratulations to Justice Dalveer Bhandari on his re-election as a Judge of the ICJ. Huge efforts by Team - MEA. Syed Akbaruddin @AkbaruddinIndia our Permanent Representative in UN deserves a special mention." In his tweet, Mr Syed Akbaruddin, India's Permanent Representative in UN Mission, wrote: "A vote that brings cheer to a billion India's nominee Judge Bhandari re-elected to ICJ. Manila, Nov 14: On the last day of his three-day visit to the Philippines for the crucial ASEAN and East Asia Summits, PM Modi today held one-on-one dialogues with his counterparts from Japan and Australia -- Shinzo Abe and Malcom Turnbull  giving a "new vigour" to the bilateral ties.
"Delighted to have met you, Prime Minister @TurnbullMalcolm. Our talks today add new vigour to the friendship between India and Australia," the Prime Minister tweeted in response to a missive from the Australian leader. For his part, Mr Turnbull earlier tweeted saying, "Productive meeting this morning in Manila with Prime Minister @narendramodi focused on increased economic cooperation, security, and counter-terrorism. #ASEANSummit".  Continuing with his high-level bilateral engagements here on the the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit and other related conclaves, the Prime Minister on Tuesday met his Japanese counterpart and a "valued friend". Besides, Mr Modi interacted with the New Zealand Prime Minister. "Wonderful meeting with PM @jacindaardern. We discussed deepening economic and cultural cooperation between India and New Zealand," he wrote in a twitter post. Mr Modi also met Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam. He also met leaders from Vietnam. "Meeting a valued friend and a trusted partner. PM @narendramodi and PM @AbeShinzo held a wide ranging and engaging discussion on intensifying Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweeted posting a photograph of Mr Modi and Mr Shinzo Abe shaking hands. On his interaction with Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister wrote, "My friend @AbeShinzo and I had an excellent meeting in Manila. We reviewed the ground covered on various aspects of India-Japan ties and discussed ways to deepen cooperation between our economies and people". In another tweet, Mr Kumar said, "PM @narendramodi met with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam. Both leaders had fruitful discussions on expanding bilateral partnership, specially in trade and investment, renewable energy, culture and people to people contacts". The Prime Minister met his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc. "Strengthening comprehensive strategic partnership. Prime Minister @narendramodi and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam shared common goal to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries," the MEA spokesman said in his missive in the micro blogging site.
During the last three-day high-level diplomatic engagements, Mr Modi also met US President Donald Trump and Philippines Prez Rodrigo Duterte. Officials from India, Australia, Japan and the US on November 12 held a crucial meeting giving for the first time a concrete strategy to the much talked about strategic tie up amongst themselves to take on China. UNI
