RAJOURI, MARCH 26: The District Information Centre organized an
impressive Mehfil e Mushaira here in Press Club Rajouri. District Information
Officer Mohammad Shafait was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Assistant
Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Javaid Iqbal was the guest
of honour. Vice President Press Club Arif Qureshi, Sumit Bhargav, Gagan Kohli,
Imran Khan and other senior members of Press Club attended the Mushaira.
Renowned poets in the likes of Parvaiz Malik, Rafiq
Souz, Rashid Qamar, Rubina Mir, Zanfer Khokher, Lal Hussain Parvaz, Nazir
Bayzaz, Abdul Karim Darhali, Abdul Karim Rehmati, M B Khaki, Prof A H Naeemi,
Umar Farhat, M F Lodhi, Zakir Hussain Khaki and many others enthralled the audience
with their couplets of Ghazals and Nazms in Urdu, Pahari and Gojri languages.
The poetry presented encompassed themes of love and
compassion, tragedy and loss, God and Spirituality, joy and happiness,
milestones and memories, ethics and principles, harmony and peace and
challenges of modern times faced by society including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,
gender equality and man-environment conflict.
Speaking on the occasion District Information
Officer said that such programmes are organized with an aim to provide platform
to the poets to showcase their talent. He also assured that more
such programmes shall be organized to connect with youth and to inculcate a
love for poetry in them.
AD FCS & CA Javaid Iqbal who was the guest of
honour, appreciated the role of Information Department for organizing such
impressive Mushairas. He also complimented the poets for their
dedication for contributing in the field of poetry and for writing on the
challenges of modern times.
On the occasion Rs 500 was also given to each of
the participating poets as a token of love by the District Information Centre.
