New Delhi, Mar 9: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Friday said that under new security
norms at airports, a specially-abled passenger will not be made to remove their
prosthetic limbs for security scanning.
Addressing the annual press conference here, CISF officiating
Director General A K Pateria said passengers with disability will no longer
have to remove their prosthetic limbs for X-ray screening at airports.
Elaborating, the airport sector Additional Director-General M Ganapati explained that now the CISF personnel have been asked to go in profiling or other methods for security checks of the specially-abled passengers until there is specific input or suspicion. In case of any doubt, the passenger may be asked to undergo the usual security check.
CISF has already done away with the humiliating practice across airports in the country. In addition, the para military force has ended the practice to screen wheelchairs through X-ray as it causes inconvenience. UNI
