BANDIPORA, MARCH 15: The Department of Fisheries today organized a
district-level training programme for fish farmers under Agriculture Technology
Management Agency (ATMA) scheme at Sumbal, Bandipora.
The programme was aimed to provide technical
know-how to the farmers and to sensitize them about fish farming and other
integrated agricultural activities.

Hussain, Technical expert team headed by Deputy Director ATMA, Manzoor Ahmad,
officers from the administration, besides a large number of farmers were
present on the occasion.
The participants were imparted necessary training
by experts regarding fish farming, animal and Sheep Husbandry.
On the occasion, the Assistant Director said that
the department is taking various steps to take the fisheries sector to new
heights. He said various innovative schemes have been launched in the district
which are showing better results at the grass root level.
He informed that Rs 23 lakh have been expended on
different welfare schemes during the current financial year. He appealed youth
to avail the benefits of various schemes, adding that there is a tremendous
scope for fish rearing in the district, owing to the availability of natural
water resources.
Later, a question-answer session was held in which
the queries put up by the farmers were answered by the experts.
