Hyderabad, Mar 6: A Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus was set ablaze by
Maoists in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on Monday night.
However, the crew and passengers were safe.
The incident took place at Kudthi village when the TSRTC bus was on its way from Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh to Hyderabad.
The Maoists stopped the bus and asked the passengers to alight before setting on fire, police said here.
The Maoists also reportedly burnt a private bus and a tractor.
The incident comes close on the heels of an encounter with Greyhounds, the Special Anti-Naxal force of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh near Pujari Kanker in Bijapur district on Telangana-Chhattisgarh border on March 2, in which 10 Maoists including seven women were killed.
The bodies of nine Maoists were handed over to their relatives on Monday afternoon after a post-mortem was conducted at Government Area Hospital in Bhadrachalam in Telangana.
One Greyhounds personnel was also killed in the encounter.
Dadaboina Swamy alias Prabhakar, a Divisional Committee member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and a native of Warangal district, was among the Maoists who were killed. His family took possession of the body on Sunday. UNI
