Delhi, Mar 7: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 1400 hrs on Wednesday,
the third day of Budget Session, after the Opposition members created a ruckus
against the government in support of their respective demands.
After laying down the papers, Chairman Venkaiah Naidu
condemned the vandalisation of statues in different parts of the country and
said, “It is a mad thing. I hope the appropriate authority takes action in the
matter.”While he was delivering his condemnation note, the Congress, TDP, AIDMK, DMK and CPM trooped into the Well, displaying placards and raising slogans against the government.
The Chairman tried to pacify the agitating members but to no avail.
The Congress members were raising the PNB fraud case in which jeweler Nirav Modi is the main accused in the alleged scam of Rs 12,600 crore. The TDP were displaying placards for special status category to Andhra Pradesh.
The leading parties from Tamil Nadu-- AIDMK and DMK-- raked up the issue to constitute Cauvery Management Board immediately.
The last two days were washed away without transacting any legislative business and despite assurance from the Chair to debate all the pertinent issues, the opposition law makers did not allow the House to function.
“The government is willing to debate on the issues. Bank issue is very important. Let us start the discussions. Entire country wants debate. I am ready for every discussion provided permit the House to function,” said Mr Naidu.
He also cautioned the members against such conduct saying it would send a wrong message to the people. UNI
