Amaravati (AP), Dec 11 : With the Congress-TDP 'People's Front' receiving a drubbing in the Telangana assembly elections, Telugu Desam party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu Tuesday said his party would respect the people's verdict.

Naidu congratulated Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on leading his party to an emphatic victory.

"My compliments to Chandrasekhar Rao," Naidu said in a statement.

Besides the Congress and TDP, the People's Front ('Prajakutami') also comprised the TJS, and the Communist Party of India (CPI).

However, results of the elections to five state assemblies established that people were leaning towards an alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Naidu, who has been making efforts to cobble an anti-BJP front, said.

The TDP walked out of the BJP-led NDA a few months ago over the Centre's refusal to accord special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

"People of all states are antagonistic towards the BJP. Results of these assembly elections will enable formation of a strong alternative to the BJP in the 2019 general elections," he added.

He also extended his greetings to all newly elected MLAs in the five states--Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

The YSR Congress and Jana Sena president K Pawan Kalyan also congratulated the TRS over its victory in Telangana elections.

YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said TDP was totally wiped out in the Telangana polls.

"The same would repeat in Andhra Pradesh as well in the 2019 polls," Reddy said.

"Naidu employed every trick to win the elections in Telangana. He sought to make Telangana his (political) laboratory but failed miserably," Reddy said.    PTI

Hyderabad, Sep 19: The Congress would not name the Chief Ministerial candidate in poll-bound Telangana, where it would fight the Assembly elections jointly with the TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi, a key party leader said Wednesday.

The AICC In-charge of Telangana, R C Khuntia maintained that the usual practice in the Congress was not to name the party's Chief Ministerial candidate before any Assembly election.

"TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) President, Uttam Kumar Reddy will lead the campaign but the Chief Ministerial candidate will be finalised after the election," Khuntia told here.

"It will be decided after the election results come out, with the views of MLAs, in consultation with our President Rahul Gandhi", he said.

Telangana Assembly was dissolved on September six -- more than eight months ahead of the expiry of its term -- on the recommendation of (now) Caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who opted to go for early elections.

The Election Commission is yet to come out with the poll schedule for the State.

The Congress which won 21 seats in the 119-member Assembly in the 2014 elections with a vote share of more than 25 per cent, has since struck an understanding with the TDP, the CPI and TJS of Prof M Kodandaram to fight the election jointly.

"Seat sharing details have not been finalised but we have agreed to fight jointly," Khuntia said. "We will have a common agenda, and also some strategy to campaign jointly," he added.

According to Khuntia, winnability of the alliance partners would decide as to who would get how many seats to contest.

"It's not the question of numbers; it's a question of winnability", he said, adding, while the Congress is the major partner, the three other parties would get "preference" in segments where they are in a better position.

The TDP fought the last election in alliance with the BJP, won 15 seats and had a close to 15 per cent vote-share. (PTI)

New Delhi, Aug 7: With opposition parties raising serious concern over the alleged sexual exploitation of girls at a children's shelter home in Uttar Pradesh, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today termed the incident shameful and declared that no culprit would escape action.

Singh also told the Lok Sabha that two senior officials of the state government were probing the matter.

Opposition members, including those from the SP and the RJD, raised the issue and referred to a similar incident at Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

"No culprit will escape action", Singh said, adding that the state government has taken quick action in the case. He described such incidents as unfortunate, sad and shameful.

On the action taken, he said the district administrative officer has been suspended and the manager of the shelter home as well as her husband have been arrested.

Additional Chief Secretary and a Director General level officer are probing the case, Singh said.

The Home Minister also said that he would ask the ministries concerned to send out advisories to states to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.

Soon after the Home Minister's response, members of the SP, RJD, Congress and TMC staged a walk out from the House.

Amid the protests and heated exchanges between the Treasury and the Opposition benches, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said everyone is concerned about these incidents which are not good. She urged everyone not to play politics with it.

She suggested that all members should also keep a tab in their constituencies so that such incidents do not happen.

Twenty-four girls were rescued from a shelter home in Deoria in Uttar Pradesh after allegation of sexual exploitation of the inmates came to light a few days ago. As many as 18 inmates are reportedly missing.

Raising serious concerns about the case, SP member Dharmendra Yadav said strict action should be taken against the culprits. Atrocities have been committed against the girls, Yadav said, adding that he does not want to play politics on the issue.

RJD member Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav also raised the issue.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge asked the Speaker to set up a House Committee to probe the incidents which have happened in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Noting that it is a "serious issue", he also said the committee should visit all states and try to find out why such things are happening.

BJP member from Uttar Pradesh Kalraj Mishra said the licence of the children's shelter home was cancelled a year ago and then the matter went to court. The process of shifting the girls and the boys had started, he added.

Amravati (AP), Jul 24: A bandh called by main Opposition YSR Congress against the Centre's stance over granting special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, evoked mixed response across the state today.

With the ruling Telugu Desam Party opposing the bandh this time, there was a virtual clampdown on the protesters with police detaining YSRC leaders at several places.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sought to know what would the YSRC achieve by enforcing a bandh in the state.

"Why should the state be penalised for the follies of the Centre? What is the use calling for bandhs instead of fighting with the Centre?" he said.

In Chittoor district, YSRC legislators R K Roja and Narayanaswamy were taken into custody at Puttur as they attempted to take out a rally with their supporters.

In Visakhapatnam, former minister Botsa Satyanarayana was taken into custody, while in Tirupati, party general secretary Bhumana Karunakara Reddy was detained.

MLA P Ramakrishna Reddy was placed under house arrest at Macherla in Guntur district, while several top leaders of YSRC were taken into custody in Guntur city, Repalle, Sattenapalli and Narsaraopet, police sources here said.

In other districts as well, YSRC leaders were detained as they tried to enforce the bandh.

Educational institutes declared a holiday in view of the bandh call, while State Road Transport Corporation buses were operated in limited numbers to prevent untoward incidents.

In Vijayawada city, YSRC activists staged a protest outside the RTC bus station to prevent movement of buses, but police took the protestors to a nearby police station.

YSRC workers staged protests at various police stations against the detention of their leaders.

The TDP had withdrawn its ministers from the central government and later walked out of the NDA, alleging that the Centre had failed to fulfil its "promise" of special category status to Andhra Pradesh.  (PTI)

New Delhi, Jul 23: The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today forced a pre-noon adjournment of proceedings in the Rajya Sabha after its members trooped into the well of the House over their demand for special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

TDP members led by their leaders Y S Chowdary and C M Ramesh were up on their feet as soon as listed papers were laid on the table of the House.

Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said their notice has been converted into a short duration discussion which would be taken up tomorrow.

He then got two zero hour mentions -- minimum support price (MSP) for paddy raised by Vijila Sathyanath of the AIADMK and alleged misuse of investigating agencies by the government to settle political vendetta by Anand Sharma of Congress -- made before TDP members rushed into the well of the House.

Naidu said he was willing for a discussion on the issue last week itself but TDP leaders wanted it to be slated for Monday and yesterday they sought its listing on July 24.

"I have admitted the notice under rule 176," he said.

Rule 176 allows a short duration discussion to be raised by a member on a matter of urgent public importance.

But the TDP members were unrelenting.

"Please don't do injustice to other members," Naidu said, adding he has admitted 15 zero hour notices which should be taken up. "I am ready for discussion."

He asked members to return to their places but TDP members were unrelenting.

There also was a minor verbal clash between opposition Congress and treasury benches on Anand Sharma's zero hour mention of parallel FIRs on the same alleged offence being registered by the CBI, the DRI and the ED in "targeted vendetta".

While treasury benches said Congress was trying to "demoralise" investigating agencies, opposition members saw them being "abused" by the government.

Naidu's repeated pleas to members to return to their seats went heeded, forcing him to adjourn the proceedings till 1200 hours.

But before doing so he remarked that it seems that members do not want the House to function. (PTI)

Mumbai, Jul 20: The Shiv Sena will abstain from voting on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha moved by the Opposition against the Modi government, party sources said today.

Yesterday, the Sena's chief whip in the Lok Sabha Chandrakant Khaire issued a whip to MPs asking them to be present in the House when the motion was discussed and support the government.

Hours after issuing the whip, the Sena shifted its stance and said party chief Uddhav Thackeray had asked his party MPs to remain in Delhi and a final decision on supporting the Modi government would be taken this morning before the debate started.

"Sena MPs have been asked to remain absent by Uddhav ji during the voting on the no-confidence motion," a close aide of the Sena chief told.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had sought the support of other parties for the motion, citing the NDA government's "non-fulfilment of the promise" to grant special status to his state. (PTI)

Amaravati, Jul 19: Ahead of the debate on the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha tomorrow, trouble seems to be brewing in the Telugu Desam Party with one of its lawmakers announcing that he would not attend the House proceedings.

Anantapuramu MP J C Diwakar Reddy, who did not attend Parliament yesterday, said he would continue to stay away when the no-trust motion moved by the TDP is taken up for discussion, and also during the entire Monsoon session.

The party has issued a whip directing all its MPs to attend Parliament on Friday and Monday.

Reddy said it doesn't matter even if a whip was issued.

"This is just a routine. The government is not going to fall anyway. And I cannot speak English or Hindi. So my presence or absence doesn't matter," he told reporters in Anantapuramu late last night.

"There are others who are well-versed in English and can speak well," he added.

The MP, known for his outspoken attitude, is said to be sulking over the party leadership's non-committal stance over allocation of ticket for the next election from Anantapuramu.

Reddy had previously announced he would retire from electoral politics.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to speak to Reddy when he holds the daily teleconference with party leaders today. (PTI)

New Delhi, Jul 18: The Lok Sabha would take up on Friday the debate on an opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government brought by the TDP and opposition parties, with Speaker Sumitra Mahajan admitting the notice.

"The House will take up the debate (on the motion) on Friday, July 20th. The discussion will be held for the full day, followed by voting on it," Mahajan announced in the House when it reassembled after the lunch break on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

She also said that there will be no Question Hour on that day and the House would have no other business, barring the discussion on the no-confidence motion.

Earlier, the Speaker had announed that she would announce the date for the debate in 2-3 days.

During the Zero Hour, she had named all members from TDP, Congress and NCP, among others, who had moved similar no- confidence motion notices and said TDP's Kesineni Srinivas would move his motion as his party was the first to raise it.

Mahajan had not accepted notices for a similar motion during the Budget Session, which was washed out due to continued uproar by TDP, TRS and some Opposition parties demanding that government agree to the motion.

But the motion was rejected by the Speaker on the ground that the House was not in order as there were continuous protests in the Well by opposition members on various issues.

The member of the TDP, which had quit the ruling NDA coalition in March protesting against the government not giving a special package to Andhra Pradesh, had moved the motion during Zero Hour which was admitted by the Speaker.

"More than 50 members are supporting the motion, so the leave is granted (to bring in no-confidence motion)," Mahajan said earlier in the day, accepting the notice.

With Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanding that the largest party be allowed to move the motion, Mahajan said as per rules, the party which raises the motion first, gets to move it.

"It's not a question of big party, small party... Those who brought the no-confidence motion, I read all the rules.

The person who first brought the motion, has to be called first," Mahajan said.

As Kharge pressed with the demand that all members who brought in the motion should be allowed to move it, an angry Mahajan said "You go through the record... I have gone according to the rule".

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the government is prepared to face the no-confidence motion brought in by several parties. "The entire country has confidence on Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

The Opposition parties brought in no-confidence motion against the government on issues like Grant of special status to Andhra Pradesh, lynchings, atrocities against women and dalits and dilution of a law meant for Scheduled Caste. (PTI)

Vijayawada Apr 20: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu began his 'dawn-to- dusk fast', christened as “Dharma Porata Deeksha” in the IGM stadium here on Friday in protest against the Centre for not granting Special Category Status (SCS) to the state.
The Chief Minister garlanded the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, TDP founder N T Rama Rao, DR.B R Ambedkar and freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu on the dais before he embarked on the fast. 
Priests of Kanaka Durga temple and religion heads blessed him before he began his fast, coinciding with his birthday today. 
The Chief Minister was seen wearing a black badge in protest against the Centre’s attitude.
A host of Ministers, including Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Kollu Ravindra, N Ananda Babu, MPs and MLAs were also observing fast along with Mr Naidu. 
The 'Darma Porata Deeksha' venue is full with activists, students and women.

New Delhi, Apr 6: Five Lok Sabha Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) MPs resigned on Friday to protest Centre's failure to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. 
Andhra Pradesh lawmakers YV Subba Reddy(Ongole), Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy(Nellore), YS Avinash Reddy(Kadapa), V Varaprasadarao Velagapalli (Tirupati)and Midhun Reddy (Rajampet) submitted their resignation letters to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
The letter carried only one line: "I hereby tender my resignation of my Lok Sabha seat in the House with immediate effect.”
YSRCP MPs will go on an indefinite hunger strike at AP Bhawan here, said party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy tweeted. 'We will observe relay hunger strikes across the state. We continue to stand in solidarity with the people of AP in their fight for Special Category Status!' he said.
In another tweet, Mr Reddy said 'We do as we say! YSRCP MPs are submitting their resignations today.'
He also challenged Chief Minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to make his party MPs resign and 'stand united with the people of the state in their rightful demand of special category status for Andhra Pradesh'. 
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die on Friday.
The YSRCP move comes after growing bitterness between the parties in Andhra Pradesh and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre.
Both the YSRCP and Telugu Desam Party, which pulled out of the NDA on March 16, moved no-trust motions against the government over its refusal to accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh as committed to it at the time of the state's bifurcation in 2014. UNI

New Delhi, Apr 4: For the 20th day in the second half of the budget session, the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday witnessed an uproar by the TDP, AIADMK and the Congress members on the issue of the special status for Andhra Pradesh, the Cauvery waters issue and the dilution of the SC/ST Act, forcing the adjournment of the house till 1400 hours.
Soon after the administration of oath of affirmation to 12 new and re-elected members, the TDP and the AIADMK members began protesting on the demand for special status for Andhra and failure of the Centre to set up the Cauvery Water Management Board.
Despite pleas by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to members to allow the House to proceed and allow laying of papers, the members entered the well of the hosue, displaying placards and shouting slogans ‘we want justice’.
Soon after the members of the Congress party also entered the well of the house on the issue of the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act.
Even as the Congress members shouted slogans like ‘Dalit virodhi ye sarkar nahi chalegi’ , minister of state for parliamentary affairs Vijay Goel said that it was the Congress that had been pursuing ‘anti-Dalit’ policies for 50 years.
‘’Let us have a discussion in the House on who is anti-Dalit,’’ he said.
Expressing concern on the disruptions in the House, Chairman Naidu said that a handful of people were not allowing the House to function.
"The whole country is watching with concern why the House is not functioning. A number of important Bills are pending. The government has said it is ready for discussion on all issues be it the Cauvery issue, the special status for Andhra or the bank scams. Please allow the Hosue to function. There are just two days left for the session ,’’ he appealed to the members.
When repeated pleas to members fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House till 1400 hours.
This is the 20th day in succession in the second half of the budget session that the House has witnessed protests over various issues like the bank scams, the demand for special status for Andhra Pradesh and the Cauvery waters issue, leading to the washout of proceedings of the House without transacting much business. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 31: The Tamil Nadu government has filed a contempt petition before the Supreme Court against the Centre for failing to set up the Cauvery Management Board within stipulated period of six weeks.
The Central government also filed a clarification plea asking the court whether it can modify the composition of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB). 
The Centre also sought three months from the Apex Court for implementing its February 16, 2018 order.
Advocate Uma Pati, appearing for the Tamil Nadu government, said the matter will be mentioned before the Top Court on Monday.
Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry, involved in the Cauvery water dispute case, had filed petitions seeking modification of the Cauvery tribunal's final order which was delivered in 2007. 
Kerala government had also filed a review petition on March 22, before the Supreme Court in the case.
The sharing of waters of the Cauvery river has been the source of a conflict between many states including - - Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. UNI

Bengaluru, Mar 30: With the exit of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from the BJP-led NDA after it charged the Union government of betrayal on granting Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, the crumbling of the NDA has begun, Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday said.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the BJP had created history by becoming the first ruling government in the Parliamentary history of the Nation by not permitting the august house to function. Its intention was that a series of scams, agrarian distress, lack of jobs, killing of Indians in Iraq and multiple other issues including the no confidence motion moved by TDP and YSR Congress parties did not come up and be recorded in the house proceedings.
‘’The BJP has also lost its mandate inside the Parliament. With the alliance partner TDP coming out of the alliance and its once best ally Shiv Sena dumping it, the NDA is crumbling,’’ he said.
He charged the Modi government of insulting the great institution of Parliament by stalling the proceedings to block issues of scams which is allegedly committed by the government abd do not come up in the house. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 27: Uproar by the AIADMK and the TDP on the Cauvery issue and special status for Andhra on Tuesday disrupted the functioning of the Rajya Sabha, which was to give farewell to 40 retiring members, forcing two adjournments of the House, the second one for the day.
Soon after the laying of papers, as the Chairman sought to proceed with the farewell to the retiring members in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , members of the TDP and the AIADMK entered the well of the House to protest on the issue of non-fulfillment of the promise of special status to Andhra Pradesh and the Cauvery waters issue.
When repeated pleas by the chairman toprotesting members to allow the House to proceed fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House for 15 minutes and called members of all parties to his chamber.
When the House reassembled at 1123 hours, members of the TDP and the AIADMK went back to their seats. However, Mr V Maitreyan, Ms Vijila Satuyanath and A V P Ramachandra Rao of the AIADMK kept standing on their seats to protest on the Cauvery issue.
Urging the AIADMK members to sit down, the chairman said,’’more than 40 of our members are retiring. They want to express their views. Allow the House to proceed.’’
When the members did not respond to the plea, Mr Naidu said he was not asking them to withdraw from their stand. However, this is a special occasion when 40 members are retiring.
You can express your stand at a later time.’’
Mr Ramachandra Rao said they wanted the PM to come out with a solution to the issue.
Mr Naidu said that in the present situation, he had two options, either to name the members or adjourn the House.
40 of the members of the house are retiring this month.
When the members refused to budget, the Chairman adjourned the House for the day.
This is the fourth week in succession during the second half of the budget sesison that the proceedings of the House have been disrupted on the issues of special status for Andhra and the Cauvery issue. UNI

New Delhi, Mar 27: The proceedings of the Lok Sabha was a washout on Tuesday yet again as the House could not take up the No Confidence Motion against the Narendra Modi government due to continuous uproarious scenes.
As the repeated plea from the Chair urging the slogan shouting AIADMK members and rebel AAP member Dharam Vira Gandhi to return to their seats from the Well did not yield expected results, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.
In the post noon session, taking up the No Confidence Motion moved by the floor leaders of various parties including Mallikarjun Kharge (Congress), P Karunakaran (CPI-M) and Thota Narasimham (TDP) and other members, the Speaker told the agitating members that she had to do headcount of 50 members standing on their designated places to allow taking up of the motion.
"I am duty bound to allow the motion, but I cannot do the headcount in this situation and therefore I request all members to go back to their seats," she said.
The Congress, NCP, Left and TDP members resorted to unique style to demonstrate their support for the No Confidence Motion and several members carried a placard each with numbers inserted on it.
Amid the din, Congress floor leader Mr Kharge said, "Madam, you require 50 Members to allow the No Confidence Motion, there are now more than 50 members. We all want a debate on the Motion".
The Speaker, however, contended that she could not do the headcount amid unruly scenes in the House.
Making a brief intervention, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said the Modi goverment is keen for debate in the House on the no-trust motion as the ruling regime enjoys "confidence" both in the House and outside.
He also slammed Congress role in the entire episode and said the grand old party is "losing its primacy" in national politics. 
"The Congress is now a marginal party. Even for No Confidence Motion, they are following others," Mr Kumar said and counseled that Mr Kharge's party should do some "soul searching" on the matter. 
"As the House is not in order, I will not be able to allow to take up the Motion," the Speaker said in reference to the AIADMK members who were raising slogans demanding setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board.
The Patiala lawmaker Mr Gandhi was in the Well with a placard reading - 'State Control over their resources'. 
In between, the Speaker allowed laying of papers and later adjourned the House till Wednesday. 
A No-Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha can be accepted, only if there is support of at least 50 members.

New Delhi, Mar 24: BJP president Amit Shah has said the Telugu Desam Party quitting the NDA was 'guided by wholly and solely by political considerations" instead of developmental concerns and it was "unfortunate" and "unilateral".
In an open letter written to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Friday, Mr Shah said,'BJP has been firm believer in the concept of politics of performance and 'development for all' has been our guiding principle.
Addressing reporters here on Saturday, BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said for the last few weeks there has been a campaign of calumny and political propaganda unleashed by political parties in Andhra Pradesh, adding that there was a element of political escapism in what step Mr Naidu has taken. 
Mr Rao said how the Centre has shown its sensitivity towards Andhra Pradesh can be seen by indisputable facts.
'The TDP is running away from reality and living in a imaginary world that they want to create for their own benefit,'he said. 
Mr Rao said they have taken all facts and figures, which were already in public domain, to the people of Andhra Pradesh like the 14th Finance Commission Report.
'Andhra Pradesh figures very prominently on our agenda of national development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned in ensuring the growth and prosperity of Andhra Pradesh,' Mr Shah has pointed out in the letter.
'Since the discussion of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh till present, it is the BJP that has led the voice of safeguarding the welfare of the people in both the Telugu states,' he said.
Alleging that the Congress has historic apathy towards Telugu people, Mr Shah said, 'This (BJP's sensitivity) is in direct contrast to the Congress party which not only mismanaged the bifurcation but also showed zero sensitivity towards the Telugu people which is in line with their historic apathy to the Telugu community.'
Mr Shah reminded the TDP chief that when, during the previous Lok Sabha, his party did not have adequate representation, it was the Saffron party that set the agenda and ensured that justice was done to the Telugu people in Andhra and Telangana.
'Since the party has come to rule at the Centre, TDP has been integral part of NDA and the coalition has nurtured the new Andhra with the spirit that it has suffered during the bifurcation,' Mr Shah has written, adding that 'There is an element of sensitivity and firm commitment for the cause of state's development in the way the NDA government at the Cenre has worked for Andhra Pradesh.'
The BJP President said that due to the weak financial position of Andhra Pradesh, the 14th Finance Commission awarded to the State Revenue Deficit grants to the tune of Rs 22,113 crore covering the overall revenue deficit for five years. 
'Andhra Pradesh is the only state to receive the award of revenue deficit grants for all the five years period from 2015 to 2020 besides the eight north-eastern and hilly states. Does that not show that Modi Government has been sensitive to the needs of the state?' he said.
Mr Shah also wished people of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Ugadi.
Mr Rao said the TDP chief has written a letter to Mr Shah when he quit NDA, but 'we are stating the facts and figures which cannot be contradicted.'
The TDP, once the BJP's biggest ally in south, pulled out of the government earlier this month over the special status demand.
The TDP is also trying to bring a no-confidence motion against the government in Parliament but it has not been taken up as the Houses were being adjourned due to constant pandemonium.
Elections are due in Andhra Pradesh assembly next year and regional parties, including the YSR Congress, have been repeatedly attacking the TDP for not being able to secure a special category status for the state.

New Delhi, Mar 23: The Lok Sabha could not take up the No Confidence Motion against the Narendra Modi government yet again on Friday due to continuous uproarious scenes, despite repeated plea from the Chair, urging the slogan shouting TRS and AIADMK members to return to their seats from the Well.
The House was adjourned without transacting any major business for the 15th day till Tuesday. Adjourning the House, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said the members had "requested" her for a holiday on Monday, March 26, on account of Ramnavami. 
"I am accepting the request," Ms Mahajan said. 
Taking up the No Confidence Motion moved by the TDP and the YSR Congress Party, the Speaker told the agitating members that she had to do headcount of 50 members "standing on their designated places" to allow taking up of the motion.
"I want to take up the motion, even on my right side they are ready," she said referring to the Treasury bench and requested the slogan shouting TRS and AIADMK members who were in the Well to return to their respective seats. 
"I am duty-bound to allow the No Confidence Motion. As the House is not in order, I will not be able to allow to take up the Motion," the Speaker said in reference to the No Trust Motion moved by TDP MP Thota Narasimham and Y V Subba Reddy of YSR Congress Party.
The Congress, Left and TDP members among others stood on their places rendering their support to the No Confidence Motion. Congress MP Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur in Punjab also came into the Well and raised slogans - but nothing could be heard amid din. 
In between, Speaker allowed laying of papers and also announced setting up of a panel to examine matters pertaining to the implementation of 7th Pay Commission report for the employees of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariats.
Ms Mahajan, however, said she could not do the headcount on No Trust Motion amid chaos and members entering the Well and thus adjourned the House till Tuesday.
A No-Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha can be accepted, only if there is support of at least 50 members.
Earlier, the House was adjourned within minutes of assembling till 12 noon after paying tributes to martyrs -- Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar -- on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas.
The Speaker paid homage to the most revered figures of the Indian freedom struggle - who were hanged on March 23, 1931. Ms Mahajan said the three brave hearts attained freedom to liberate the country from the shackles of foreign rule.
'The courage, bravery and patriotism of these martyrs will always be a source of inspiration for all of us,' she said. 
The members stood for a few minutes in silence as a mark of respect to the freedom fighters.
The AIADMK members, protesting over demand for immediate setting up of Cauvery Water Management Board and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members insisting for increase in Muslim reservation quota in Telangana, trooped into the Well.
Lawmakers from TRS donning pink stoles wanted hike in reservation quota for Muslims in Telangana.
They carried placards, which said 'One nation, one law' and 'Link MG-NREGA to farm labourers'.
Both the Houses of Parliament have not been able to transact any major business in the second part of the Budget session that got underway on March 5. UNI
