New Delhi, Mar 15: To build up pressure for early granting of Special Category Status to Andhra
Pradesh, YRS Congress Party Y V Subba Reddy on Thursday moved a no-confidence
motion against the government and said his party is lobbying with other
opposition parties and NDA constituent Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to enlist their
support.
A communication to the Lok Sabha
Secretary-General Snehlata Shrivastava from Mr Reddy says 'This House expresses
no confidence in the Council of Ministers' and makes a request that this be
taken up for agenda on March 16 under the provisions of 198 B.
Mr Reddy, who is chief whip of YSRC party in the Lower House, told that 'efforts are on to enlist support of other parties, including Congress, TDP, Trinamool Congress.'
To a question, the MP from Ongole said, 'We are also talking to TDP despite the fact that they are a part of the NDA because the issue my party wants to highlight is related to Andhra Pradesh and non-fulfillment of assurance given to the state during its bifurcation in 2014.'
Members from Andhra Pradesh belonging to TDP and YSR Congress Party have been protesting in both the Houses of Parliament and outside demanding Special Category status for the state. UNI
