POONCH, APRIL 12:
District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, convened a meeting of
officers to review the preparation regarding a series of activities to be
organized by different concerned departments in different blocks of the
district for the welfare of rural areas under 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan'.
The district
administration has decided to launch 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan', an outreach
campaign, in the district on the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar on April
14, which will continue till May 5, It was given out in the meeting.
The meeting was
attended by chief medical officer, Dr.Mumtaz Bhatti, ACD Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh,
district panchayat officer,Mukhlis Quraishi, district social officer, Naiema
Bhatti ,district agriculture officer, Inderjit Singh,AD FCS& CA, Ranjeet
Singh,Lead Bank manager D.K Bali & officials of allied department included
ICDS.
The objective of
the 'Abhiyan' is to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households,
to obtain feedback on ongoing programmes, enrol in new initiatives, focus on
increasing farmers's income, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize
national priorities such as cleanliness in rural areas of the district.
It was discussed
in the meeting that under the 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyan', 'Samajik Nyaya Diwas'
would be celebrated on April 14 and on the day, it was decided that
social justice conferences would be organized at Balaashrams by the social
wellfare department in collaboration with ICDS and health department, where,
apart from wheel chairs distribution to differently abled persons, several
initiatives for them to be highlighted.
DDC said that, on
'Swachh Bharat Diwas' april18, the day would be celebrated with great
enthusiasm and marked by series of activities including launching of Swachta
express, expediting digging of toilets activities and campaign will also be
launched to clean water bodies, "moreover all government offices including
Panchayat Ghars, hospitals/dispensaries, footpaths, roads, ration depots will
be cleaned up by the concerned department with active participation of local
inhabitants, " he added.
On 'Ujjwala
Diwas' 20th April, it was decided that an awareness program shall be
organized near LOC villages including Sagara Mankote where Ujjwala
LPG connections, LED bulbs, medical kits containg first aid, materials
including school bags carrying the information and education/ messages,
regarding Swach Bharat Abhiyan for maintenance of good health and hygiene are
distributed to school children.
Similarly, on
'Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Diwas' day April 24, rural development
department was asked by the DDC, to organise awareness programs and formulate
panchayats development plan across the district by conducting Gram Sabha in
each of the 189 panchayats on the day in the district.
Further, it was
given out in the meeting, that 'Gram Swaraj Divas' would be celebrated on April
28, On’Ayushmaan Bharat Diwas' onApril 30, a healthy baby show was
organised by health department where mothers of healthy baby would be
felicitated and awareness cum screening of high risk pregnancy would be
highlighted.
Kisan Kalyaan
Diwas’ 2nd May, apart from creating awareness how to increase agricultural
output thereby increasing farmers income, Kisan credit cards would be provided
to the farmers, the meeting told.
The DDC directed the officers to ensure effective implementation of all
activities to be carried out across the District during the campaign and said
that he will personally monitor the activities to be carried out for the
welfare of rural areas where majority of people are residing.
