Srinagar, Apr 27 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed that brown sugar, smuggled from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) was recovered and one person was arrested from an area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
A police spokesman said this evening that continuing its drive against cross-LOC drug smugglers in border town of Uri, Police arrested Nazir Ahmad Teehkray son of Maqbool Tehkray resident of Jabla, Kamalkote Uri. He said brown sugar 800 grams were recovered from his possession. The said consignment had been smuggled from Pakistan via POK and the accused resides in the close vicinity of LOC.
He said in this regard, a case FIR Number 40/2018 under sections of 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Uri and investigation taken up.
During the past some months Police had apprehended a number of such drug smugglers from the area and some of them had also been booked under Public Safety Act.
Police is determined to wipe out all gangs and modules who are smuggling drugs from Pakistan with active support of some elements across LOC.UNI
