JAMMU, APRIL 13: Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India
Council for Technical Education (AICTE), accompanied by Sh. Dipan Kr. Sahu,
Consultant Student Start-up Policy Implementation Unit, met Governor N.N. Vohra
at the Raj Bhavan.
Prof. Sahasrabudhe briefed Governor about the
ongoing activities of the AICTE to bring about significant qualitative
improvement in the technical education being imparted in the State and about
the AICTE’s Student Start-up Policy which has been designed
to guide AICTE approved institutions to promote student
driven innovations and start-ups. He requested Governor,
who is Chancellor of the State Universities, to help in institutionalising and
integrating the efforts of the state Start-up Mission to harness creative potential
of youth across academia.
Governor observed that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi
University, Katra (SMVDU) has already established a Technology Business
Incubation Centre (TBIC) for encouraging the spirit of entrepreneurship among
the people of the State and has successfully incubated 12 Startups through the
TBIC. The University has also organised the
“Innovation Challenge”
and is engaged in organising Hackathon-2018
in May, 2018.
Governor lauded Prof. Sahasrabudhe’s
initiative in supporting efforts to identify the innovative and entrepreneurial
potential of students and transforming them into start-up entrepreneurs.
Governor assured Prof. Sahasrabudhe that he would very soon convene a meeting
of all VCs and heads of Higher Education Institutions in the State to discuss
and prepare a roadmap for this purpose.
