Agartala, April 10: The elected executive of All Tripura Govt Doctors’ Association (ATGDA) resigned last night over the allegations of poor rapport with the new government.
The outgoing members of ATGDA alleged that they had been facing problems in functioning of the association after new government assumed office.
"Being a professional organisation, it was difficult to function unless maintain good rapport with the government and large section of the doctors, which the outgoing committee did not have," a member said.
Members of several elected bodies, including three-tier Panchayat, have been resigning en masse after new government came to power.
The ATGDA officials handed over the charge of the association to an ad-hoc committee.
Soures from the association alleged that not only ATGDA, all other professional bodies of doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers and officers were run by CPI (M) cadres, and the functioning of such organizations had been directly controlled by the leaders in past many years.
He said,“None of the association or organisation function independently for professional purpose. CPI (M) had mobilized them and they worked as frontal organisation of the party.
"Obliviously, change of power has affected them and to save themselves from embarrassment, all of them are now tendering resignation without following the standard practice,” he pointed out.
According to a report, more than 60 per cent elected members of three-tire Panchayats have already resigned and many of the urban local bodies followed the same strategy after fall of CPI (M) in recently held assembly elections. UNI
