Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 10: Owing to rising mercury and severe heat resulting in
acute shortage of water, the district administration has announced to deploy
373 tankers in 297 villages in the region.
It has already acquired 672 private wells to supply water
during the scarcity-like condition.In Aurangabad, the most affected area in the region, as many as 284 water tankers are being engaged to supply water in 230 villages followed by 45 tankers in Jalna for 35 villages, 30 tankers in 21 villages in Nanded district, 10 in 8 villages in Parbhani district, 2 each in Hingoli and Beed districts, sources said.
However, so far no tankers were needed in Latur and Osmanabad districts.
Last week, 316 water tankers supplied water in 255 villages, they added. UNI
