Agartala, Apr 19: At a
time when CPI (M) is holding 22nd Party Congress in Hyderabad, 68 –yrs old
former MLA and Khowai District Secretary of CPI-M Biswajit Datta trained gun
against Tripura leadership including Manik Sarkar accusing them of pursuing
power politics in anti-communist line.
Talking to media today Datta said he has already resigned
from all the party posts and from the primary membership of CPI (M) protesting
of conspiracy hatched against him by the state committee leaders.
Datta had won by-election in 2016 and made district committee secretary of Khowai after death of veteran leader and chief whip of the party Samir Deb Sarkar. He was given ticket for this year’s assembly election but at the last day of nomination, party had withdrawn him and renominated his junior Nirmal Biswas.
According to Datta, the party had forcefully shifted him to ICU of Agartala Govt Medical College giving the excuse of his poor heart condition but he was quite okay that time and had been doing regular election campaign.
“I am the victim of conspiracy of the corrupt racket in the party higher up. The entire episode that happened with me is a part of conspiracy including declaring me as sick, admitting to hospital and referring me to ICU immediately,” Datta alleged.
Describing conspiracy of announcing him as ill by taking photograph at sick bed in ICU he raised question whether taking photograph was possible from ICU, he questioned. The State Committee had decided to change his name without his consent and spreading false propaganda of his illness after announcing him as candidate for Khowai assembly constituency.
“I was healthy that time except some casual old age problem and till the date I am okay but power crazy CPM leaders humiliated me unethically on false ground. I thought deeply and decided not to associate with them anymore and I tendered resignations despite knowing they will exert pressure on me and my family but I cannot be in the party,” Datta stated.
He ruled out the possibility to join any other party and said, “I had no aim to join in parliamentary politics. The death of MLA Samir Deb Sarkar compelled me to participate in election with the request of party. This time also they made me candidate – printed posters and banners of my name but suddenly without any consultation with me, the party harassed me by sending me to ICU.”
Datta alleged there was very little space to talk in the party these days. He raised question on the way the party was functioning, saying,"I have difference of opinion with the state committee. I wanted to talk on several issues. I approached former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, too, but he deferred the issues. Where is the place to talk?" UNI
