New Delhi, May 14 : As many as 80 deaths were reported as thunderstorm and lightning lashed five states during the intervening night of May 13 and 14, leaving 136 people injured, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said here on Monday.
“As per the information received so far by the MHA, the state of Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of casualties -- 51 people killed and over 123 others injured in the various districts of the state,” Home Ministry officials said.
Thunderstorms claimed 14 lives in West Bengal while 12 weather-related deaths were reported from Andhra Pradesh, two in Delhi and one in Uttarakhand.

There were reports of 11 people injured in Delhi and two in Uttarakhand.
A total of 121 houses were damaged in Sunday's hailstorm, which also left 19 animals dead so far, the official added.UNI
