SRINAGAR,
MAY 16: Minister of State for Housing & Urban
Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash today
laid a foundation stone for construction of a sewerage system around left areas
of Dal Lake
The
project provides a sewerage network, with manholes, house connections and
pumping stations, for several peripheral areas of the Dal Lake. It will also
include design, construction, testing and commissioning of a sewerage system.
The areas falling
under the project include Saida Kadal, Naidyar, Gurpora, Jogilankar,
Daulatabad, BagheRoop Singh, Abi Nowpora and Boulevard. The project will have a
total of 20797 metres pipeline network.
With an estimated
cost of Rs 24. 80 crores, the project is being constructed under the GoI
sponsored AMRUT scheme and it will be completed by July 2019.
The
Minister said that the government is committed
to protect and preserve all water bodies in the Valley particularly Dal lake
and construction of extensive sewerage network will go a long way in curtailing
pollution. She said that AMRUT scheme gives ample funding to the State to
improve its sewerage network.
Asiea
Naqash was also informed that new Intermediate Pump Stations are being
constructed at different places so that sewerage of these areas is connected to
main STP at BrariNambal.
She
impressed upon the concerned officers to work in a mission mode for the
protection and conservation of Dal Lake, Anchar Lake and other water bodies in
the city.
The
Minister directed the engineers to speed up the pace of work and finish the
project in a time-bound manner so that the inhabitants of these areas are
benefitted at the earliest.
She asked the people to cooperate with the officials for the
speedy execution and implementation of this project.
