Bulandshahr, May 16: A notorious criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000, was arrested after an encounter with police in Khanpur area late on Tuesday night.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Shahab Rasheed Khan here on Wednesday said that acting on a tip-off, police team intercepted two motorbike-borne suspects in Khanpur area but they opened fire on police team.
In retaliatory firing, one criminal was injured while his accomplice managed to flee. Injured criminal was identified as Sonu and one country-made pistol, four cartridges and a motorbike were recovered from his possession.
Several criminal cases under loot, theft and murder were registered against Sonu in police stations of Bulandshahr, Mathura districts, the ASP said, adding that reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on his arrest. UNI
