POONCH, JUNE 12: On the directions of District
Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the District Animal and Sheep
Husbandry Departments have deputed specialized teams to highland pastures
(Dhokes) for providing medical, breeding and other allied facilities to the
livestock and to prevent any loss of life due to outbreak of any epidemic.
The teams were deputed in view of large scale seasonal
migration of nomadic population along with their livestock to highland
pastures.
As many as 11 teams comprising of 33 officers from Sheep
Husbandry and 12 officers from Animal Husbandry departments would cater to the
livestock in all major Dhokes such as Dhokri, Sheenwali, Girjan, Baranari,
Kalamund, Jabbi Totti, Andarwali, DharanWali, Parhra, Wansi, Beribara, Moolsar,
KafferKatha, SariMastan, PirGali, Gurez, HillKaka, Noorpur, KhunWali,
ChebbaKatha, Gumsar, Jaddi, ChotiMarg etc
The teams, equipped with adequate medicines and vaccines,
would camp in assigned Dhokes and would provide all requisite assistance to the
nomadic population for safeguarding their livestock. These camps would be
supervised and regularly monitored by the Assistant Surgeons.
The District Animal and Sheep Husbandry Officers would
regularly monitor and evaluate the assignment given to the staff and ensure
that the deployed officials perform their duties with punctuality.
