District Administration Rajouri today provided relief assistance to victims of
recent flash floods that damaged several houses beyond repair in Thannamandi
Sub-Division.
A team of district
administration led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, A.Q Mir, SDM Afzal Mirza
and Tehsildar Thannamandi Qadeer ur Rehman provided relief assistance to
victims in Khablan village.

Advocate Qamar Choudhary, former Sarpanchs, prominent citizens and
representatives of NGOs were also present on the occasion.
Earlier in the
week, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Shahid Choudhary along with a team of
district administration had conducted a detailed inspection of losses due to
cloudbursts and resultant flash-floods in various areas of Thannamandi
sub-division which led to massive damages.
There were major
damages to private property including livestock and houses. Six houses were
damaged beyond repair and more than a dozen were affected partially whereas a
number of animals were also washed away for which sheep husbandry departments
is extending relief assistance. Assistance of Rs 1 lakh each was provided to
each family.
The administration
has also finalised plan for giving 100% subsidy on seeds to the farmers for
loss of crops. Relief assistance for damages to livestock and other private and
public infrastructure has been projected by the district administration to
SDMA, informed an official spokesperson of the district administration. The
general public appreciated the prompt response of departments in rescue and
restoration.
Meanwhile, the
district administration also provided relief assistance of Rs 1,01,900 in
favour of Mohd Bashir, son of Wazir Mohd tehsil Koteranka, Rs. 17600 in favour
of Nisar Hussain, son of Mohd Hussain tehsil Koteranka, Rs 1,01,900 in favour
of Shakila Begum wife of Mohd Sadiq tehsil Nowshera, Rs. 1,01,900 in favour of
Sita Ram, son of Shiv Ram tehsil Sunderbani and Rs. 35,000 in favour of Mohd
Arshad son of Kala Khan tehsil Rajouri for their damaged houses due to
landslides/flash floods.
Furthermore, relief
assistance of Rs. 20000 was provided to two victims of road accident at
Budhal. Another amount of Rs 1 lakh each was provided to two
families whose houses were damaged due to landslides/cloudburst.
The Flood Control
Department and Rural Development Department have initiated the process for
restoration works and Agriculture department has formulated plan for early
clearance of fields damaged due to debris.
