Administrator, Single Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), J&K Nirmal Sharma
today reviewed the progress under Technical Education Quality Improvement
Programme (TEQIP)-III, in the state.
The TEQIP
is a World Bank aided project of MHRD launched with the objective to
upscale and improve the quality and enhance the existing capacities of the
institutions to become demand driven, quality conscious, efficient and forward looking,
responsive to rapid economic and technological developments occurring at
National and International level.
Discussing
the various steps to achieve the objectives of the project, she emphasised to
gear up the activities under Start up Cells, Industry Institutions Interaction
Cells so that bright innovative ideas of the students are transformed into
start-up businesses.
The project
director further stressed that the participating institutions should expedite
to fulfil the parameters laid down for seeking accreditation with NBA for
starting new M.Tech. /Ph.D. courses in the participating institutions at the
earliest.
She discussed the
work plans of the institutions for faculty development, online courses and
workshops/trainings for students & faculty.
She underscored
the need to start GATE Coaching which will be provided to students free of cost
within their institutions by renowned Service Providers of the country under
this project. “This would help students to qualify GATE and seek admissions to
various post-graduate education programs like Master of Engineering/ Master of
Technology, Doctor of Philosophy” she added.
For bridging the
skill gaps between the academia and industry, she informed that the students
would be receiving Coaching on Employability skills to make them
“Industry-ready human resource”.
The institutions
were also advised to follow the BEST practices of their respective Mentor
Institutions as the Mentee-Mentor (Twinning) arrangements with institutions are
done to build capacity and improve performance.
The meeting was attended by Dr Sameru Sharma Principal GCET Jammu,
Prof. Iqbal Parwez Registrar BGSBU Rajouri, TEQIP Coordinators and Nodal
Officers (Academics, Finance & Procurement) of BGSBU Rajouri, GCET Jammu,
IUST Awantipora , SMVDU Katra and SPIU J&K.
