Guidance & Counselling Cells constituted

JAMMU, AUGUST 29: On the directions of Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Kumar Srangal and under the Supervision of counseling Cell DSEJ, Guidance and Counselling cells have been constituted in all District Institutes of Education and Trainings (DIETs) of Jammu Division.

These cells have been constituted to decentralize the guidance and counselling activities at district and school level. The major role of these cells will be to coordinate guidance and counselling activities initiated by Counselling Cell DSEJ in the schools of their respective District. In this regard a monthly activity calendar of guidance activities to be undertaken by DIETs in various schools will be prepared by counselling Cell DSEJ.

 With constitution of these Guidance Cells at DIETs, a three-tier system (Directorate, DIET, and School level) has come into existence for carrying out guidance and counselling activities in the schools. Realizing the need and importance of psychological well-being of school students, Director has directed DIET Principals to take initiatives related to emotional well-being, stress management and career awareness of students for which the services of trained resource persons can be utilized.

“The provision of these services for students would help them developing the right attitudes and competencies to cope with educational, personal, social and career related problems and issues” emphasized Director while taking a meeting of officials of Counselling cell DSEJ.

The director asked the concerned to establish a resource room and a guidance committee in each DIET.

DIET Principals have also been directed to include guidance and counselling component in their annual action plans and send a monthly report to this office about activities being undertaken.
