POONCH, SEPTEMBER 20: Additional District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Abdul Hameed Sheikh today placed teachers under suspension for unauthorized absence from duty.
During his visit to District Institute of Education and Training, the ADDC found that some trainee teachers were absent from their duty and placed them under suspension, pending enquiry, with immediate effect.
Chief Education Officer, Poonch and senior most HOD of DIET Poonch will conduct an enquiry and submit their report within 10 days.


JAMMU, AUGUST 29: On the directions of Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Kumar Srangal and under the Supervision of counseling Cell DSEJ, Guidance and Counselling cells have been constituted in all District Institutes of Education and Trainings (DIETs) of Jammu Division.
These cells have been constituted to decentralize the guidance and counselling activities at district and school level. The major role of these cells will be to coordinate guidance and counselling activities initiated by Counselling Cell DSEJ in the schools of their respective District. In this regard a monthly activity calendar of guidance activities to be undertaken by DIETs in various schools will be prepared by counselling Cell DSEJ.
 With constitution of these Guidance Cells at DIETs, a three-tier system (Directorate, DIET, and School level) has come into existence for carrying out guidance and counselling activities in the schools. Realizing the need and importance of psychological well-being of school students, Director has directed DIET Principals to take initiatives related to emotional well-being, stress management and career awareness of students for which the services of trained resource persons can be utilized.
“The provision of these services for students would help them developing the right attitudes and competencies to cope with educational, personal, social and career related problems and issues” emphasized Director while taking a meeting of officials of Counselling cell DSEJ.
The director asked the concerned to establish a resource room and a guidance committee in each DIET.
DIET Principals have also been directed to include guidance and counselling component in their annual action plans and send a monthly report to this office about activities being undertaken.


ANANTNAG, JULY 20: District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik today inaugurated two-day distribution cum Fitment Camp at DIET, Anantnag.
The camp is being organized by Education Department, Anantnag under Inclusive Education (IE) component of SSA.
Among others present on the occasion include Joint Director Education South Kashmir I/C Chief Education Officer, & I/C Principal DIET, Anantnag, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone, ZEOs of Achabal, Ashmuqam, Anantnag, Bidder, Bijbehara, Doru, Mattan, Qazigund, Shangus, Srigufwara, Vailo & Verinag Headmasters, Teachers a large number of differently abled children & their parents /guardians.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC, stressed upon the need to facilitate the differently abled children by way of education, empowerment and to provide assistance so that they can excel in different fields of life.
The I/C CEO highlighted the achievements and roll of the department in providing aid and assistance to the differently abled children and said that during 2017 five-day workshops was held on multiple disability, reader allowances to Blind allowances in January, 2018 distribution of hearing aids on 23-03-2018, five-day workshop on Braille during May, 2018. He further stated that various tests including low vision, hearing impairment, speech & language disability, Locomotor disability, mental illness, spectrum disorder, leprosy, muscular dystrophy, intellectual disability, sickle cell disease etc were conducted by the department.
The DDC on the occasion distributed 161 aids and appliances among the differently abled children which include 12 wheel chairs, 50 orthosis, 43 MSIED Kit, 34 hearing aids, 03 Elbow crutch, 06 CP chairs, 01 BK Prosthesis, 06 Rollator, 03 Tri Cycle, 01 U/L hearing aid and 01 walking stick children of the 12 education zones which include 12 children from Achabal, 10 from Ashmuqam, 19 from Anantnag, 10 from Bidder, 09 from Bijbehara, 13 from Doru, 19 from Mattan, 20 from Qazigund, 25 from Shangus, 16 from Srigufwara, 01 from Vailoo & 07 children from Verinag zone.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 29: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Dr G.N. Itoo conducted a detailed tour of district Kupwara along with a team of officers of Education Department.
He paid a surprise visit to DIET Kupwara, various schools of Handwara and BHSS Kupwara where he interacted with the students.  The Director also visited BOSE sub-office Kupwara in the capacity of Secretary J&K Board of School Education and took stock of the functioning there.
He also took stock of the ongoing construction work of Ustad Ghar in Kupwara town which is being built in over an area of 2 Kanals of land and for which in initial phase administration has released an amount of five lakh to be followed by the next instalment of Rs 27 lakh.
The Ustad Ghar is meant for the accommodation of teachers of the border areas of Machil, Keran, Karnah, Jumagund etc. This would solve the long pending demands of teachers of such areas who used to face accommodation problems in Kupwara.
DSEK also reviewed the ongoing constructions work of BOSE building in Kupwara for which land acquisition has already been made in a wide campus area of 4 Kanals of land.
Later, Director along with District Development Commissioner and Chief Education Officer Kupwara visited the auditorium being constructed at Hanga Mawar which shall be taken over by the Education Department for the exposure and co-curricular activities of the students.
On the occasion, Director also announced that a state level Children’s festival, in which students from Jammu will also participate, shall be organized in the Bungs Valley soon.
It was said that such a mega festival will help interaction of students on the state level and various cultural and co-curricular programmes shall mark the occasion of the upcoming festival.

JAMMU, MAY 31: Minister for School Education, Hajj and Auqaf and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today laid foundation and e-inaugurated several projects of school education department across Jammu division completed under RMSA, SSA, State and District sector schemes.
Minister of State for Education Shakti Raj Parihar and Legislator Dina Nath Bhagat were also present on the occasion.
Legislator, Pawan Gupta and senior officers of various districts attended the inaugural event through video conference.  
The Minister inaugurated 68 newly constructed school building and also laid foundation of two buildings.
The building includes Middle Schools, Primary Schools, DIET Complexes, Upper Primary Schools, Higher Secondary schools, Girls hostel and others in Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda,  Reasi and Kishtwar districts. The construction cost of these projects is Rs 25 crore.
Zulfkar greeted the students, staff and officers of the department for getting new infrastructure. He hoped that with the spacious buildings, the academic activities in the schools would get a new push.
He further reiterated that development of education sector is one of the main priorities of the government and many steps are being taken for the upgradation of the basic infrastructure in educational institutions.
 “We want to ensure that the schools function smoothly and the education of children   does not suffer for any reason,” he said and asked the concerned officers to move a proposal for uniform colour coding of school buildings across the state.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities for conducting subject specific refresher/orientation courses for the teachers to keep them abreast with the latest teaching styles in the fast-changing world. He said that many new concepts/ researches have come up in the teaching field which a present-day teacher should be aware of, therefore, refresher courses become important.
He directed SIE and DIET authorities to impart training to the teachers on modern lines by using the new methodology and latest technology.
The Minister was informed that CM’s Super 50 Coaching Programme has been started in Boys Higher Secondary School Gandhi Nagar and Government Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School where students are prepared for engineering, medical and other professional exams.
The Minister also directed to start extra classes/remedial classes for the children weak in studies and in the border schools where studies of the students suffered due to shelling.
 Also present on the occasion were Director School Education Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Personnel Officer, Afshan Masood, Chief Education Officer Jammu J K Sudan and other senior officers of concerned department.


Orders de-clubbing of educational institutions for better results
JAMMU, MAY 21: Minister for School Education, Hajj and Auqaf and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today ordered de-clubbing of government educational institutions that had earlier been clubbed due to less enrolment.
“Education, being an effective instrument for creating a progressed and prosperous society, is receiving special focus of the present dispensation and all the schools are being equipped with modern infrastructure and highly qualified staff to make these institutions centres of excellence”, the Minister maintained.
The Education Minister said this while chairing a review meeting of education sector of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Devinder Kumar Manyal, Minister of State for Education, Shakti Raj Parihar, Legislators Priya Sethi, Devender Singh Rana, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar, Rajesh Gupta, Rajeev Sharma, Jeevan Lal, Dr Krishan Lal, Kuldeep Raj, Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Vikram Randhawa were also present in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed functioning of constituency wise institutions, student enrollment, literacy rate, staff availability including teachers, principals, lecturers, ZEOs, Headmasters and others, overall result for the year 2017-18, financial and physical status of ongoing construction works, proposed capital expenditure budget for the current session, approved works under TAMEIR plan, mid day meal scheme, model schools, proposal for up-gradation of schools, Financial and physical progress of construction works under Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and others.
The Minister was informed that a total of 91415 students are enrolled in government schools in Jammu districts with zero percent dropout rate as per UDISE 2017-18. The total literacy rate of Jammu district is 83.45 %.
The Minister directed the Director School Education to expedite the recruitment process for the post of Class 4th in a time bound manner.
Taking strong cognizance of poor performance of some of the schools, the Minister instructed the Director to take action against the erring officers and teachers who have registered zero percent result. He also asked for ascertaining the reasons behind poor academic performance of students so that requisite measures are initiated to improve the results.
The Minister said that  elementary education is of immense importance for laying a strong foundation for students' future which is being taken care of by the present government. “Qualitative improvement in the education system in government schools and filling up of infrastructural gap is the top priority of the government”, he asserted.
The Minister said that the government and people have high expectations from the teaching community as they are the real architects of future. He asked the teaching fraternity to engage children in objective learning through latest teaching-learning methods to improve quality of primary  education in the government schools.
The Minister stressed upon the need of effective working of Village Education Committees as these play significant role in micro-planning and  prepare the school development plan including requirement of buildings, toilets and drinking water facilities,” he said.
All the legislators highlighted various issues of their respective constituencies which inter alia include formulation of long term policy to improve the overall quality of education in the state to further perk up the literacy rate, rationalization of staff to maintain the student- teacher ratio, infrastructural up-gradation, sanitation, incentivizing rural postings, appointment of subject specific teachers, capacity building programmes for teachers, posting of Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and Chief Education Officers (CEOs). The government has approved engagement of 20,000 watch-and-wards in schools for security and safety of students and educational infrastructure as well” he asserted. 
The Minister asked for making Urdu language, being official dialect in the state, as compulsory subject in government as well as private institutions upto primary level. He called for exempting teachers from all non-academic duties in the larger interest of the student community.
 The Minister directed the concerned officers to provide desks to Government Higher School Ghagwal and fill the vacant post of ZEO at Khour. He also directed to expedite the process of construction of Auditorium at Akhnoor.
The Minister directed the concerned authorities to vacate all the unsafe school buildings so as to avoid any untoward incident on this account.
The Minister exhorted upon the teaching fraternity to uphold the dignity and sanctity of this noble profession by discharging their duties with utmost sincerity and devotion as the onus of shaping the nation’s future lies on them.
The Minister welcomed the suggestions of the Legislators and assured them that the same would be incorporated to streamline the functioning of the department.
The Minister urged upon the legislators to keep a strict monitoring over the functioning of schools in their respective areas to ensure that these institutions of education served their best. He also asked them to pay frequent visits to these schools so that they could project the needs and requirement there like infrastructure, staff, teachers and others.
            Minister of State for School Education Shakti Raj Parihar, said that education department have a great role in shaping the future of students who are builders of a strong Nation. With the introduction of various reformative initiatives in education, the sector has shown notable improvement in its functioning.
Among others, Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, Additional Secretary, Joint Director Planning, State Project Directors SSA and RMSA, Director School Education, ADC Samba, ADDC Jammu, Personal Officer Directorate School Education Jammu, Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, Principals of   DIET and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.


SRINAGAR, MAY 19: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today chaired a meeting to review the modalities for completing shifting of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) to Ganderbal.
The meeting was informed that the CMO and DIET buildings in Ganderbal have already been transferred to CUK and the varsity has shifted the administration unit to these buildings, adding that 36 rooms in the Government Physical College Ganderbal are ready and will be handed over to CUK on May 28.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to complete the pending finishing work of RUSA building on war-footing and hand over it to the CUK authorities within a month. He also instructed for constructing temporary pre-fabricated structures in the campus to meet the requirement of students.
DC Ganderbal was also asked to identify a suitable patch of land for CUK and also send the DPR for upgradation of roads to the Divisional Commissioner’s office so that the work will be started soon.
The meeting was also informed that NBCC will hand over first building on May 30 and second building on June 30 to the CUK.
The Div Com said the government is committed to earliest shifting of the entire university campus to Ganderbal. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Vice Chancellor CUK, Registrar CUK, representative of NBCC and other concerned officers.


Visits Ustad Ghar, Auditorium building, SIE, DIET building

SRINAGAR, MAY 11: Minister for School Education, Hajj & Auqaf and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today directed the concerned to introduce market-oriented professional courses, adopt latest teaching methods and seek technological intervention in teaching methodology as well as in administrative work.
The Minister expressed these views during his visit to teachers’ hostel ‘Ustad Ghar’, under-construction Auditorium building, and State Institute of Education (SIE) and DIET building here at Bemina.
Urging the SIE and DIET officials to break the stereotype training methods, the Minister said training should not be for receiving certificates only. He said the need of the hour is to impart training on modern lines by using the new methodology and latest technology so that the master trainers could propagate the same quality down the line.
The Minister also asked for developing a mechanism through which standard and efficiency of trained teachers, who receive training from SIE and DIETs, could be assessed.
Highlighting the importance of introducing the new courses in the curriculum, Zulfkar said that in present day and age there is a great influx of information, mainly coming through the internet. However, he said the focus should be on relevant and up to date courses that match up with the market trends are introduced, so that the students have better prospects of getting jobs or establishing their entrepreneurial units.  
He also directed for providing refresher courses to the teachers. Many new things have come up which a present-day teacher should be aware of, therefore, refresher courses become important, said the Minister.
 Zulfkar also announced that to reward the good work of teachers, besides getting State level award, would be felicitated with zonal as well as district level awards. The awards will be given in all the three categories of best principal, best headmaster and best teacher.
The Minister said the aim is to make the Governmental educational schools institutes of excellence. He said for this whatever, is required will be done. He said constructing ‘Ustad Ghar’, which is constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore, is a step in the direction.
He informed that the construction of ‘Ustad Ghar’ has solved the problem of finding private accommodation for the teachers receiving various trainings here. He said not only the departmental teachers, but even the employees from other departments could avail the boarding and lodging facility available at the Ghar at nominal prices, provided the latter has followed the official protocol for it.
It was revealed that the Ustad Ghar has 24 double bedrooms with attached washrooms, 13 triple bedrooms, and two dormitories with attached washrooms.
The Minister also took stock of the finishing work of Auditorium constructed by J&K Housing Board at an estimated cost of around Rs 11.64 crore.  It was revealed that previously department had to book other auditoriums which was costing a great deal to it. However, with the construction of their own auditorium, the department would not only save a great deal of money but by renting it to other government agencies for doing their functions could earn good revenue from it.
After taking stock of the work completed so far, the Minister announced that the auditorium, with a seating capacity of 520, would be inaugurated later this month by the Chief Minister.
Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director School Education Kashmir G N Itoo, Joint Director State Institute of Education Kashmir Mehboob Hussain, Principal DIET Srinagar, Suriya Bano and other concerned officers were accompanying the Minister.

Screening test of temporary contractual lecturers held



          SRINAGAR, MARCH 02: Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah along with Director School Education Kashmir today called an emergency conference of all the Chief Education Officers and DIET Principals and directed them to celebrate cleanliness week from 20 to 27 March 2018 in all the Institutions of the State.
          He said that in order to ensure 100% attendance of students in schools, biometric attendance system for the students shall be installed in every High and Higher Secondary Schools of the State.
          Talking about the introduction of Board examination for 11th class, Secretary Education directed all the Chief Education Officers and the Head of the Institutions to make sure the completion of all the arrangements in this regard and monitor the attendance of students on regular basis and submit the monthly report to DSEK.
          In order to make effective teaching-learning process, Secretary Education said that during the current session every primary school of a zone shall be monitored by designated Heads of the Middle Schools, every Middle school shall be monitored by designated Headmasters of a High Schools, every High School shall be monitored by the Principal of a designated Higher Secondary Schools and Higher Secondary schools shall be monitored by concerned Chief Education Officers.
          In order to strengthen the basic infrastructure in schools, Secretary Education directed all the Chief Education Officers and Head of the Institutions to submit a report about deficiencies in the basic infrastructure of the schools within 10 days.
          The various points on which the Secretary was briefed by Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo include the introduction of new subjects at Higher Secondary Level, Super 50 coaching centres, Winter camps, winter tutorials, upgradation of schools, the performance of DIETs and the recent transfers.
          The meeting was attended by all the Joint Directors, Chief Education Officers, DIET Principals and the affiliates of State Media Centre SIE Kashmir.
          Secretary Education Farooq Ahmad Shah along with DSEK Dr. G.N. Itoo also inspected the examination centres for the conduct of Screening Test for the appointment of contractual lecturers on the Academic arrangement. During the visit, he took stock of the arrangements and facilities being provided to the aspirants.


KUPWARA, NOVEMBER 22: DIET Kupwara has declared the results for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th classes.The results can be viewed on the official website dietkupwara.in.


KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 24: District Development Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana today inaugurated five day Zonal Education Officers and teachers training program at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar.
The programme was organized by the Department of Education Studies, Central University of Jammu under Pandit Madan Malviya Mission on teachers and teaching in collaboration with Education Department and DIET Kishtwar.
The main focus of the training programme was to sensitize the participants about the technology and communication besides familiarizing them with computer software and hardware approaches in education.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner said that education plays an important role in the development of regions. Science and technology revolutionize our lives, today India is one among the fastest growing societies for e-learning system, he added.

While interacting with the ZEOs and teachers, he stressed upon them to carry forward the techniques and skills learned in the training programme to their classrooms so that the students be benefited. 

          SHOPIAN SEPTEMBER 20:  A day long training and distribution programme for fertilizer dealers/retailers was conducted at the DIET Shopian to enable smooth-functioning of the Aadhaar-enabled fertilizer distribution system.
          Officials said the key features of the scheme are Direct Benefit Transfer of fertilizer subsidy to farmers with bank accounts linked to Aadhaar, direct fertilizer distribution to farmers and tenant farmers based on Aadhaar with e-Pos machines.
          Elaborating on the system, Representatives of TATA and Chambal Fertilizers said as many as 283 e-Pos machines have been made available for dealers/retailers in the district.
The Chief Agriculture Officer Shopian also urged the officials to ensure that bank accounts of all farmers are linked to Aadhaar so that every farmer gets the benefits. Pointing out that there will be optimum usage of fertilizers without pilferage into the black market, he said that this was an excellent way to control smuggling.

Present on the occasion, Assistant Director Planning, Officers and officials of agriculture department and large number of fertilizer dealers/retailers were also present.  


KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 19: A cultural programme Mulaqat was today organized by Aharbal Adbi Aagur in collaboration with Cultural Academy at DIET Kulgam in which MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and renowned poet, historian, linguist and teacher, Naji Munawar attended as special guests.
Different personalities affiliated with culture and languages highlighted the contribution of Naji Munawar in the field of literature and wished him a long life.
MLA Kulgam admired the role of Naji Munawar particularly his contribution in Kashmiri grammar.
President Aharbal Adbi Aagur while highlighting the literary contribution of Naji Munawar said the distinguished poet has authored more than two dozen books and his spirit is still young to nourish the Kashmiri language.
Different cultural programmes were held on the occasion. Besides, a mushaira was also held where different poets read their poetic collections.

The function was attended by CEO, Principal DIET, DIO, ZEOs, poets, media persons and a good number of students.


PULWAMA, JULY 05: A meeting was held at District Institute of Education and Trainings Pulwama to review functioning & performance of different functionaries of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM).
The meeting also took stock of the Preparedness for Learners Assessment test scheduled to be held in the month of August 2017.
The meeting was presided over by The Principal DIET Pulwama (Member Secretary SBM ZLSS Pulwama), Nodal Officer SBM Pulwama, Zonal Education Officers from Tahab, Kakapora, Pampore, Shadimarg and Tral zones, all SBM In-charges at BLSS level, all DLCs & BLCs attended the meeting. Nodal Officer SBM Pulwama gave a presentation on the achievements made during past one year.  
Principal DIET Pulwama appreciated the efforts of all functionaries towards bringing a great transformation in the functioning of the Program since last one year.
The meeting was told that over 7000 learners have been enrolled for the Test scheduled in August 2017.

Member Secretary SBM Pulwama stressed on the need for smooth communication of information and activities performed by different functionaries in the district. She laid emphasis on the conduct of monitoring of various SBM functions at Panchayat level and reporting of the same to ZLSS on the timely basis.
