Rajamahendravaram (AP), Feb 21 :  Kashmir remained an unresolved issue only because former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru tackled it in the wrong way, leading to Pakistan indulging in terrorist acts, BJP President Amit Shah said here Thursday asking the Congress not to politicise the issue.

"Kashmir remained a problem only because of Jawaharlal Nehru. Sardar Patel tackled Hyderabad and it is now respectfully part of India but Jawaharlal Nehru tackled Kashmir and it continues to be a problem," he said.

Addressing a large meeting of BJP workers here, Shah said Pakistan was indulging in terrorist acts because of Kashmir.

"Kashmir is simmering because of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Had Patel been the prime minister at the time, Kashmir would not have remained a problem," he added.

Lashing out at the Congress for "politicising" the recent terrorist attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama, the BJP president said the opposition party was not to going to derive any benefit out of it.

"With what face is the Congress raising questions against the Prime Minister? Congress called the Army chief names, it raised doubts over the surgical strikes (on terror havens in Pakistan), it accused the Prime Minister of trading with the soldiers' blood, Congress' Sidhu embraced Pakistan Army chief, the previous Congress president cried when terrorists were killed," Shah said 

The Congress has not even left the issue of terrorism in its futile bid to remove Modi.

"For Narendra Modi, the nation's security is the top-most priority. He is toiling 18 hours a day for that.

Congress... don't teach patriotism to us. We are the ones who are ready to lay down our lives for Bharat Mata," Shah asserted.                         [Agencies]

Amaravati (AP), Dec 11 : With the Congress-TDP 'People's Front' receiving a drubbing in the Telangana assembly elections, Telugu Desam party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu Tuesday said his party would respect the people's verdict.

Naidu congratulated Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on leading his party to an emphatic victory.

"My compliments to Chandrasekhar Rao," Naidu said in a statement.

Besides the Congress and TDP, the People's Front ('Prajakutami') also comprised the TJS, and the Communist Party of India (CPI).

However, results of the elections to five state assemblies established that people were leaning towards an alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Naidu, who has been making efforts to cobble an anti-BJP front, said.

The TDP walked out of the BJP-led NDA a few months ago over the Centre's refusal to accord special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

"People of all states are antagonistic towards the BJP. Results of these assembly elections will enable formation of a strong alternative to the BJP in the 2019 general elections," he added.

He also extended his greetings to all newly elected MLAs in the five states--Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

The YSR Congress and Jana Sena president K Pawan Kalyan also congratulated the TRS over its victory in Telangana elections.

YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said TDP was totally wiped out in the Telangana polls.

"The same would repeat in Andhra Pradesh as well in the 2019 polls," Reddy said.

"Naidu employed every trick to win the elections in Telangana. He sought to make Telangana his (political) laboratory but failed miserably," Reddy said.    PTI

Amaravati, Jun 23 : Criticising his political opponents, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said Andhra Pradesh would be torn apart if "monkey gangs", making countless promises that could not be fulfilled, come to power in the state after the assembly polls scheduled next year.

He was addressing anganwadi teachers, who came to thank him for enhancing their salaries, at his residence here, a release from the Telugu Desam Party said.

"Some people are promising a lot of things, which cannot be fulfilled. The state will be torn apart if such monkey gangs come to power," Naidu said.

Development would continue only if one party was voted to power in successive elections, he said.

The Chief Minister asked the anganwadi teachers to spread word in the villages that the state would have a future only if "Chandranna" (Chandrababus nickname) remained in power.

He alleged that people of the country were facing hardships because of demonetisation and implementation of GST.

"The centre has destroyed the agricultural sector as well," he alleged.

Naidu claimed that he created a lot of wealth in the state during last four years of TDP government as a result of which there was happiness in society, despite the Centre not extending any cooperation to the state.

"If you all stand by me, there will not be any opposition left and the state's progress will continue. If you all vote and help us (TDP) win all 25 Lok Sabha seats (in general elections next year), we will be in a position to decide who becomes the Prime Minister and we can demand and get things done," the TDP supremo said.

Minister for Women and Child Development Paritala Sunitha and officials of the department were also present on the occassion.  PTI
